No substance to the story

As above, I almost gave up on this book as I always associate this author with military type novels but glad I stuck with it. Have changed my view of the author’s flexibility as a result and will check all of his books out.

A weak and not particularly believable storyline, this may be ok in some cases but in this one there are few other redeeming features. Definitely my least favourite of his books, not quite finished listening to it and it's been a bit of a slog so hopefully, this is not the start of a new series of books as sadly I'll be giving them a miss.

A big fan of Andy McNab but not this book

Unlikely many of the negative reviewers, I enjoyed this book. Excellent narration as ever from Paul Thornley and an opportunity to meet a new and quite different main character.

You will be disappointed if you are expecting another Nick or Tom, but that shouldn’t detract from the fact that McNab has created new main character with his own flaws and points of interest. A characters perhaps with far more in common with the average reader than we normally see.

Due to the number of crumbs left along the way the “plot twist” at the end was somewhat predictable and the typical McNab shootout finale won’t surprise anyone.

Of course like everyone else, I’m keen to get my hands on the next Nick Stone novel, but I do not agree with the criticism of this as a standalone and different piece of fiction from one of my favourite writers.

A different story... but an enjoyable one/
