Summary

The first time I saw Saxton Crawford we were in high school. He was the football star and I was just another invisible teenage girl. Now, he is a famous quarterback and the bane of my existence. And by bane, I mean his presence has brought back 10 years of secrets. Ones I'd thought I'd dealt with.

The minute he walks back into my life I become that bumbling teenage girl all over again. I’m not having it! Even if the quarterback only has eyes for me. He's irresistible, too handsome for his own good, cocky, and carrying baggage no one wants.

Saxton Crawford has spent years trying to find his mystery girl. Turns out, I'm that girl. I guess I wasn't invisible after all. Bam! Happily ever after right? Nope, not for me. Not with his demons and mine. It’s going to take every ounce of my will power to resist him.

So, what would it take to get him to leave me alone? Do I want that? Maybe I should be asking myself..."What would it take to win his heart?"

An amazingly sweet romance!

I am amazed at how much detail was fit into the, relatively speaking, short time span of this story. The characters were very well developed and relatable. The storyline was well written, with elements of romance, suspense and danger. It offered elements that I'm used to only getting from longer books and it was a wonderful surprise! I would be thrilled to read more by EL Dubois! I can only imagine what this author could do with twice the book length!

Sarah Sampino did a fantastic job narrating this book. Her accents, tone and overall performance bring such life to all her work. She is such a joy to listen to and she makes it so easy to get drawn into the story. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators!

So good!

I love it when a book has characters that I can relate to. This is my first EL Dubois story and she pulled me in from the start! Sailor is a girl the invisible girl in high school that has the crush on the popular boy, in this case Saxton. Thinking your invisible and actually being under the radar are two different things though as we all know. Years later, the two are thrown together when Saxton is in need of public relations coverage, and Sailor is the woman to do it. Now matured and more confident, she is ready to take on life. But does that include Sax? This second chance at love is a sweet story with a suspenseful twist. I love Sailor. Her personality is one easily related to, just trying to get by and move on with life. I love her tenacity and how she has gotten to know herself. Sax is a great book boyfriend. He is sweet, protective and attentive. Their chemistry is strong and I love how their relationship progresses. The twist in this is not necessarily surprising to me, but I love how it all played out. The strong survived and it was a very satisfying ending! I really enjoyed this story!

A story like this needs a narrator that can provide a younger version of characters and show the maturity as they grow. I love Sarah Sampino, and she gives us that in this story. I love how she can take Sailor from the teenage girl to the adult. With her voice, you can hear how she has matured, gained confidence and grown! I also love her flawless ability to go between characters and her male voices are wonderful. She nails this narration!

Sweet!

Sweet romance Saxton knows what he wants and Sailor know want she want but shes scared. Although she doesn't put up much fight when it comes to Saxton. There are a few bumps in the road before the can have their HEA. The narration was amazing. 🎧 AudioObsessions

Short and sweet

I really liked the story; enjoyed listening in a single sitting, but it felt a little rushed to me.
I didn't realise it was a short listen before I started, so that's on me, but with that said, it was more like a whirlwind of things happening one after the other to really feel the connections between the characters. Don't get me wrong, they were palpable at times, but the story flowed too fast to savour them.
A good listen, but just wished it was longer.

Full story despite the short length

This was my first book by E.L. Dubois but I would like to read more. Generally, shorter books make me feel like something had to be sacrificed to fit in the shorter length, but I didn't feel that way with this one. I liked the characters and the story. I appreciated that it wasn't full of misunderstandings and on/off relationship drama (maybe that's why it was shorter!). In any case, I wanted to keep listening. Sarah Sampino did a great job as narrator.

Brilliant!

This was a delightful story with great characters and lots of chemistry. It was also funny and sweet but with a bag full of crazy just to stop it rotting your teeth.
Totally loved it.
Top notch narration.

Sigh, sigh

What Would It Take by EL DuBois was a sweet fairy tale-like romance. It was a very enjoyable story with its ups and downs. I liked the writing, the characters, the whole concept was really sweet. A classic ugly duckling type love conquers it all HEA love story. I loved the epilogue and the playlist at the end too.

I enjoyed Sarah Sampino's narration, she did a great job with this audio. I liked the pace and the voices she used. The quality of the recording was good too.

Great short story- lots of romance and suspense

I can't believe how much was fit into this short story! it was a fun one and i didn't want to stop listening until it ended.

Sarah Sampino is a great narrator for this book- perfect pacing, and she did a good job infusing emotion into the characters, given what they had to go through.

Saxton and Sailor were students together at their high school. Sailor was bullied incessantly by Saxton's girlfriend at that time and when Saxton realized it, he broke up with his gf and wanted to make sure Sailor was ok. But by then, Sailor was impossible to find. Fast forward 10 years and Saxton, a QB and Sailor (part of the organization for his new team) had to work together. It was an insta-love story, which is why it could be such a short story, but it was done well. And within the story was some intrigue and suspense (who is stalking them, hurting them and what will happen next?!) on their way to their HEA. Definitely a fun story. I received this book from #AudiobookObsession, #AudiobookObsessionReviewer.

Good, quick listen

I enjoyed this romantic listen. Sailor and Saxon are both characters for whom you will be hoping an HEA is in the stars. Well performed by Sarah Sampino, I felt she brought the characters to life with her sympathetic narration.

What would it take to get you to listen?

A trailer for this audiobook grabbed my attention and I was immediately hooked! I don't often listen to sports romance, but this book wasn't gratuitously sportsy, it just happened to be part of the story and I absolutely loved it. Sarah Sampino really brought the story to life, it was amazing! I can't wait to hear/read more books by El DuBois and hear more of Sarah's work! ❤

Feel the smiles!

How adorable is this audiobook?!?! I found Sailor completely endearing. She’s a woman that every single female will relate too! She starts out a bit meek and really shy but she grows into herself. Saxton is the strong jock but where Saxton differs in other high school jocks is Saxton is kind and generous. He’s a soft guy and I really appreciate it. I fell hard for Harley though. I loved her fierce loyalness to Sailor. Andrea is someone I wanted to hurt and I was so happy that someone opened Saxton’s eyes. Anyway, I could talk on that for such a long time as bullying angers me!

The audiobook narration was fabulous! Sarah Sampino put so much emotion into this story. I think my favorite is the joking and playful banter… you can hear it in Sampino’s voice. I also really enjoyed the sweetness of her voice. You can hear the smiles in her words. I love that, hearing people’s smiles is among my favorites!

THE HEART WANTS WHAT THE HEART WANTS!

Fantastic Story! The characters quickly wove into my emotions making it easy to relate with and cheer from the sidelines. Without spoilers, l can say there is lots of good stuff in here, some surprises l didn't see coming and proof that time makes no difference to the hearts desires. The narrator Sarah Sampino did a great job with all the characters and made them come to life for me. Recommended listening.

Great Story!

I absolutely loved this wonderful romance story. Saxton could be every woman’s book boyfriend!! There’s quite a bit of suspense as you listen along—you’ll be wondering where and when Saxton’s ex will pop up and strike next. Sarah Sampino, the narrator of this story, did an excellent performance! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

What Would It Take

A great story! Ten years after a painful situation, Sailor and Sexton are brought back together. What would it take to move past the painful past and all the baggage?

EL Dubois drew me right into this story. So realistic and emotionally charged.

Sarah Sampino blew me away with her performance. A very enjoyable listen!

Super cute

Both the author and narrator are new for me and I really enjoyed the story and narration. Sarah was spot on and did perfect justice to both Saxton and Sailor’s characters and effortlessly performed both male and female characters and their emotions. I feel it’s hard for one narrator to do full justice to all the characters but Sarah really pulled it off. The story was fast paced with some twist and turns and was a perfect weekend listen. Definitely worth listening and I will be checking out more books narrated by Sarah and also by El Dubois.
