Summary
Xu Fengxia lebt in einem beschaulichen westfälischen Dorf. Sie ist dort verheiratet und hat sich eingelebt. Meist aber ist sie unterwegs, auf Tournee, in aller Welt. Zwei Mal pro Jahr sieht sie so auch ihre Heimatstadt Shanghai wieder. Dort wurde sie im Alter von fünf Jahren in traditionellen Saiteninstrumenten unterrichtet, unter strengen Bedingungen. Man sieht ihr das nicht an. Sie wirkt sanft und spielerisch. Auch, dass sie sich gegen Traditionen durchzusetzen weiß, sieht man ihr nicht an. Ende der 80er Jahre gründete sie die erste Frauenrockband Shanghais. Sie gibt erste Konzerte in Deutschland - und bleibt dort ab 1991. Das Leben hier, sagt sie, sei leichter, die Musikszene vielseitiger. Immer wenn Xu Fengxia in ihre Heimat reist, bestaunt sie das Tempo des Landes. Sie nimmt den hektischen Rhythmus, in dem China sich wandelt, durchaus kritisch wahr. Manchmal fragt sich Xu Fengxia, wie sie sich entwickelt hätte, wenn sie in China geblieben wäre.
