Summary

Helmut Schmidt erzählt in seinem neuen Buch von seinen Vorbildern. Von den Menschen, die ihn so geprägt haben, dass er sich an deren Beispiel bis heute orientiert. Die frühe Lektüre von Mark Aurel und Cicero, die Beschäftigung mit Kant, Weber und Karl Popper waren entscheidend in der Entwicklung des Politikers, der in seiner aktiven politischen Zeit als ein Verfechter des Pragmatismus galt. Dennoch wurde seine Politik stets von einer sittlichen, tief verinnerlichten Grundorientierung geleitet, die er sowohl den großen Denkern als auch Begegnungen in der Schulzeit oder seiner Frau Loki verdankte. Hervorragend

Die Erzählungen springen in der Zeit ein wenig hin und zurück. Trotzdem ein faszinierendes Leben was als Vorbild dienen darf.
