About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin

London, 1942

Flo Canning’s heart is beyond repair following the news that she has been dreading since the outbreak of war. As Flo throws herself into the role of fabric manager at Liberty’s, old and new friends alike help pull her from a whirl of despair.

Between work and home life there’s plenty to keep Flo occupied. Not least new deputy store manager, Henry Masters, whose arrival has consequences that Flo and her workmates could never have foreseen.

But there is more tragedy still to come, and Flo and her friends will need each other more than ever if they are to survive the uncertainty ahead.

Oh why did this book have to end so quickly. I just wanted it to carry on. It was absolutely amazing. Please tell us adoring fans there will be more? Thank you for having the talented Annie Aldington narrate again! She is perfection as always.

I didn’t want the book to end.

Good to have the focus on one character. I've read the other books in the series and loved them all.

Loved this book

I didn’t want this story to end. Fiona Ford the author, promptly replied to me about the sticky toffee pudding served at the New Year’s eve dinner at Lyons. It was not first served in 1970 as I thought but the early 1940s. More like this please Fiona. Annie Aldington is a brilliant narrator too which makes listening to this book so good.

Very Enjoyable
