About this listen

I'M LOST. I'M SCARED. AND THERE'S SOMETHING HORRIBLE IN HERE.

My name is Gary Rendell. I'm an astronaut. When they asked me as a kid what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said, "astronaut, please!" I dreamed astronaut, I worked astronaut, I studied astronaut. I got lucky; when a probe exploring the Oort Cloud found a strange alien rock and an international team of scientists was put together to go and look at it, I made the draw.

I got even luckier. When disaster hit and our team was split up, scattered through the endless cold tunnels, I somehow survived.

Now I'm lost, and alone, and scared, and there's something horrible in here.

Lucky me.

Lucky, lucky, lucky.

I guess some people might not like it but I actually laughed out loud in places. Good to hear the author's own voice, and he is a good narrator.

Funny

It’s a short story/ novella. Interesting enough.
I quite liked Tchaikovsky’s narration, pretty good considering he isn’t a pro.

Short but good

I just by chance decided to start this book because I've really enjoyed the authors work before and was immediately delighted with my decision. Everything from the narration, the plot, the horror and even the humour is so perfectly spot on for what I enjoy I couldn't possibly recommend it enough, especially as a quick read. I'm going to have to start Children of Time now aren't I?

A surprising story I couldn't stop listening to

I've been a fan for some years though not every novel has quite pressed the right buttons for me. I didn't spend a credit on this as it was short so when I noticed ot was included in my membership I jumped on it.

It's great fun and plays some some lovely concepts. A real joy and nicely read by the author himself. I get hints of John Finnemore. Would have been well worth that credit.
