Summary

Captured. Seduced. Craved.

Surrender to irresistible seduction with the Viking Warriors series: a world of burning desire and brutal passion, of ambition, jealousy, revenge...and love.

He has known only the pleasure of conquest....

As Svolvaen's bravest warrior, Eirik brings glory and riches to his people. Unafraid to bloody his axe, he plunders the Western lands, taking its treasures and its women. He never expects to meet a maiden who first scorns his seduction and then responds with greater passion than he has ever known. Elswyth's fiery spirit and luscious body bring him to his knees. Her heart speaks to his hardened soul, and he vows to show her the true nature of what it means to be loved by a Viking.

She is as brave as any man....

For too long, Elswyth has endured the yoke of an unhappy marriage. Even among her own people, she is shunned and envied for her unnatural beauty and her defiant ways. When a terrifying band of Northmen land near her village and murder her husband, she falls captive to the handsome brute who commands them. She refuses to be controlled, but the golden warrior leaves her breathless with his forbidden touch. Unable to fight her arousal, she submits all too willingly to his fierce lovemaking, but is she fearless enough to forge a new path across the vast, dark sea, placing her happiness in the hands of her Viking captor?

Filled with action and suspense, Viking Thunder features explicit scenes of sexy sizzle.

Too Real

I am glad I live in this day and age because this story is so real of the life back then. The women were strong and had to deal with so much. This has a lot of sexuality to it but the beginning is a lot of the men just taking it. A little rough to listen too. But it was a good story. The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life.

This is a fast rough ride!

Wow! This book contains some serious caveman behaviour, or should I say Viking behaviour. Nothing held back at all. It’s quite refreshing as it doesn’t become soft around the edges.

Fast, short blip of history.

Not what I was expecting. The blurb sounds so delicious! This was a graphic and violent Readers Digest version. Fast paced in just about every aspect. Very short listen.

Rough Romp

What did you like about this audiobook?

The work doesn't shy from mentioning rape, but it doesn't interfere with the relationship between the central characters

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

The characters were well differentiated with consistent voices.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

I felt the narrator lost some of the natural rhythm of the writing.

Do you have any additional comments?

The sex was pretty hot, though I would have liked more!

Viking pleasure abounds!

Thoroughly enjoyable listen. Short, saucy and very erotic story - not for the shy reader!

Excellent short story

I'd read and enjoyed this story some time ago, so was interested to hear the audiobook version.

And I was not in the least disappointed. It's a powerful and evocative story, a plausible imagining of what history would simply describe as "a Viking raid" on a village. Lots of little details brought it to life for me.

Emma Parry did an excellent job narrating it, conveying the sense of repression the central character had all her life, almost a "surfacing from a depression", feel, as well as her developing interest in the big bad (and rather hunky) viking warrior.

A Viking God.

Elsywth has her village ransacked by Vikings. One viking more then the other's catches her eye. Which leads her to a journey of Sexual discovery. This was a good story the only thing I didn't like was the mention of Rape. Through out the story at some points. Which is why I'm going to be honest and give this three stars. But I do really want to see what happens to Elsywth and her viking as the story finishes in a cliffhanger. I would like to read the follow up to this book when it's out.

The most erotic book I have ever read!

Viking Thunder is the most erotic book I have ever read and when I listened to it on Audible it was even better! The narrator does an excellent job presenting the intense and dark tale of Viking raids and fierce warriors. Elswyth is half Viking due to a previous raid by the Vikings and she knows that she is different than the other girls. Not only does she look different but she is not content with a life of female pursuits. She is visited in her dreams by Viking spirits, so when the Vikings raid the village again, she is drawn to their handsome warrior. Erik unleashes longings and lust in Elswyth that her weak husband never could. I don't want to give away too much, but the story if earthy and primal and resonates in your blood. It feels so real that you are sucked into the era and rough ways of the raiders. I hope that Emmanuelle writes a sequel soon!

Erotic seige by Vikings on Britain Town

The British coastal townships had endured many Viking invasions, leaving women raped and men slaughtered. This recounting of one such invasion, includes the attitude of one of the women, who was a result of a raid years earlier, and whose Nordic features had always segregated her from the other woman.
I enjoyed the audio rendition of this book, which greatly enhanced my appreciation of this story.

Not a romance novel!!

First of all this is in only the h's point of view, you get nothing from the H. This story talks about rape as though they are discussing what they ate for breakfast! There is no relationship building between the H & h, but that doesn't seem to be that big a deal since when she decides to go with him he says he will give his children his name and inheritance and that he has bedded many women and will bed many more!! WTF?? Thankfully this was short because that's the only reason I finished it. I plan to return this and see no reason to continue the series.

I really like this audio

My second (short) read/listen from author Emmanuelle de Maupassant, although I own a number of her works it was the audio that enticed me to read this one since I own both the Kindle and the Audible editions. As much as I don't care for short stories, I really liked this one. It takes something special to write a short story and in this, my second read from this author it all comes together. The only way it could be better would be to expand to a longer story and since it serves as an intro to a series it works. The accent of the narrator adds to the listening enjoyment.

A story of a true viking

Good story. Definitely wanting more. Will have to continue the series to find out what happens.
