Summary
In einem Fischerdorfe, nahe dem heutigen Yokohama lebte vor vielen, vielen Jahren ein junger Fischer namens Urashima Taro. Als er eines Abends vom Fischfang zurückkehrte und recht zufrieden und guter Dinge war, weil er gute Beute gemacht hatte, sah er am Strande eine Schar Knaben, die eine kleine Schildkröte gefangen hatten und sie an einer an einem ihrer Vorderbeine befestigten Schnur im Kreise herumschwangen und quälten. Urashima, der die Tiere gern hatte und jede Quälerei harmloser Tiere verabscheute, fühlte auch jetzt wieder Mitleid mit dem armen Tierchen und ging auf die Kinder zu.
