About this listen

Kat Foster is a junior diplomat who faces dismissal after punching an American captain into a mound of profiteroles. She gains a second chance thanks to her boss and a US intelligence agent. Kat's mission is simple: travel to Ozerkistan to debrief a prisoner who contacted a US embassy. He claims to have valuable information to trade in return for his freedom. The only snag is that Ozerkistan does not officially exist.

Kat must voyage into the unknown or face career ruin; she takes the deal. But she is not alone in her quest. In Moscow General Berezin has intercepted the prisoner’s message. He vows to prevent him from revealing the details of the secret Soviet weapon project, codenamed Pandora. Berezin is determined to use any means necessary. Kat’s mission reaches its thrilling conclusion in Ozerk City.

A likeable set of stereotypes: posh foreign office chap, brash American, hard Russians, SAS bloke and English Lara Croft all charging about the world in an old style spy novel. A tad immature at times but good fun. Will try another of his books.

Charming caper
