About this listen

According to statistics reported by CDC in 2020, one in 54 children in the USA were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in 2016.

It is suggested that boys are four times more likely to get a diagnosis of autism than girls. Autism does not discriminate; it affects all ethnicities and socio-economic groups. Getting the diagnosis and intervention early is better, however, unfortunately, this does not happen for all families.

Speech and language are highly complex learning areas that we take for granted. This is especially difficult if your child has more complex needs. If you have received a recent autism diagnosis, your mind is probably full of questions, you have likely been looking for answers on the internet. If this sounds like you, then you will have noticed hundreds of different sites offering information that is too complex and lengthy for light bedtime reading, which is probably the only time you’ll have to read without being distracted by what your child is doing.

From the point of view of an experienced professional and a parent, we are going to look at all the different areas of development but with children with ASD. I have put together all the information you need for now, as it is easy to understand and absorb. This is the first book in this series. The other books will focus on all the different areas of difficulties.

In this book:

  • Learn about the ASD diagnosis process
  • Learn to create routines that you and your child can easily manage
  • Discover simple ways to help your child develop their early interaction skills
  • Tips and tricks to manage your child’s anxiety
  • Learn about different types of speech/play therapy you can do at home

The next book is on potty training and mastering personal care skills. There will be books focusing on speech and language development, and much more, so look out for those.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

I don't have autism personally, but it's always good to have different perspectives of human problems. This audiobook seems to have excellent information, and after reading the reviews, I'm not the only one who thinks this. Although this book is for those who are on the spectrum, it doesn't hurt to listen to this audiobook.

Overall, this audiobook has excellent information on the struggles of those who are autistic and is definitely worth purchasing.

Dealing with autism is daunting, complicated and at times heart-breaking. I found this guide to be very rewarding. The information is not overwhelming but delivered in bite-size bits giving enough information to be of great assistance without going into too much detail, obviously everyone is different and every case of autism is different so it's not possible to go into every possible scenario, this book struck a good balance.

The book gives helpful tips to parents and carers looking after children with autism or who have just been diagnosed with autism, and the book gives valuable answers that will help and guide. It provides additional helpful developments to note, like the ASD diagnosis process and routines that are easy for kids to handle, and managing kids' anxiety was most beneficial.

Informative and Helpful!

My friend has a daughter with autism, and it can indeed be so challenging for both of them! She is so sweet and wants to communicate and get involved, but needs a much more sensitive approach than other kids and gets discouraged so easily.
They have managed to establish some routines that work, but are always looking into understanding the condition more and learn more!
And this book is full of practical everyday life tips, routines, and how to manage the very specific challenges that come with this condition. I'll be sending it as a gift to my friend, they'll love it!
It's perfect for anyone who has a child, a family member or a friend with autism. Overall a great listen and super useful!
