Ein wunderbares Vergnügen sind die Absätze heute, da sich auf dem Büchermarkt seit über 150 Jahren wenig geändert zu haben scheint. Hier eine kleine Leseprobe: "Xerxes hat, nach Herodot, beim Anblick seines unübersehbaren Heeres geweint, indem er bedachte, daß von diesen Allen, nach hundert Jahren, Keiner am Leben seyn würde: wer möchte da nicht weinen, beim Anblick des dicken Meßkatalogs, wenn er bedenkt, daß von allen diesen Büchern, schon nach zehn Jahren, keines mehr am Leben seyn wird."
