Summary

All three books in the New York Times best-selling trilogy available for the first time in one convenient bundle

"Will you ever let me go?"

"No, Nora," he replies, and I can feel his smile in the darkness. "Never."

On the eve of her 18th birthday, Nora Leston meets Julian Esguerra, and her life changes forever. Stolen away to a private island, she finds herself at the mercy of a powerful, dangerous man whose touch makes her burn...a man whose obsession with her knows no bounds.

Her enigmatic captor is as cruel as he is beautiful, yet it's his tenderness that devastates her most. Drawn into his violent world, Nora must find a way to adapt and survive - and find light within the darkness.

I'm not sure why I liked this, but I did.

Even though it was reasonably predictable and followed a well worn path trod by various other authors, I still cared what happened to the characters. I found myself stealing odd minutes away to listen to this book. It was a guilty pleasure I guess.

Twisted in Me is certainly the right title for this book!

Over the last week I have been totoally absorbed in this trilogy, very much in the same way as Fifty Shades drew me in. This is a disturbingly dark narrative about a young innocent girl falling helplessly under the spell of the man that kidnaps her. Everything about this book is wrong, depictions of rape and murder, but somehow I found myself immersed into their screwed up world, craving some kind of happy endding.

Painful!

I bought this quite frankly as it was a bargain for 3 books - shouldn't have bothered. A poor man's 50 shades - and that was bad enough !

It is completely unrealistic to consider the female character would put up with this behaviour from start to finish. What happened over the 3 books could have been written into one book. Found myself forwarding past the repetitive "bedroom" pages just to get to some action.

Dont waste 25 hours is what I would say :)

A waste of my time!

The fact that Nora was taken against her will and forced to love Julian, has made me completly against him from the start, I had hoped she would get to make a fresh start and realise just what he's done!
If anything, this book just left me feeling annoyed and that it is not a happy ending whatsoever!
Julian should have recieved his comeuppance!
Not impressed at all by this book, very disappointed!

ONE WORD..... EPIC

A book lasting 26 hours is a daunting thought but when you're suddenly hurled into Nora and Julian's terrifying world you just want to walk with them through more and more and even more. What an emotional ride Anna Zaires took me on with jaw-dropping reactions at the sensational dramatic twists, gripping suspense, heart-pounding highs and earth shattering lows. Three books rolled into one and I'm so pleased and grateful that I didn't need to wait anxiously for the next book to be released as the cliffhangers slowly came into sight.

Nora didn't get what she wanted for her Birthday..... instead she gets kidnapped by a breathtakingly handsome stranger she very briefly met at a Bar one night but she could never ever have imagined what he had planned for her..... or how it would devastatingly or wonderfully affect and change her life, her thoughts, her sexual desires and her way of thinking. Because Julian was a Sadist and a Sociopath who totally lacked any conscience or morals over his actions.... he wanted so he took.... and what he wanted was Nora. But pretty soon she became his obsession as well as his possession, his Achilles Heel, his distraction and eventually his saviour, his salvation and his whole world. However, first he had to break her, train her, possess her, mould her and show her that she was irrevocably forever his, his pet, to do with as he pleased.... and he wanted to do it often!! He was a beautiful monster..... handsome, self assured, confident, charismatic, frightening, charming and a very sexually skilled and demanding lover but underneath lay a controlling monster.

You'd think that you'd hate him but somehow, like Nora experienced, he gets under your skin and, in his way, he's kind, considerate, loyal and very thoughtful over everything to do with looking after Nora providing everything she could possibly want.... except her freedom. His personality traits are explained and then understood when shared later in the story. This is a very dark, gritty and raw romance which includes rape, BDSM, lots of scorching hot passion-filled sex scenes and a Sub/Dom type relationship. But it's so so much more too - because it slowly draws you into Julian's terrifying and dangerous world of violence, torture and many many deaths and all the while it's centred around the possessive, dynamic, dysfunctional and often disdainful relationship of two people that can't live, can't function and can't breathe without the other.

Was is Stockholm Syndrome, was it addiction or was it Nora's mind and body's way to cope and survive what was happening to it? Whatever the answer..... it turned into a deep all consuming love that had both Nora and Julian dramatically risking their lives to save each other and that's where the beauty of this story shone brightly. Because despite the abuse, pain, heartache, loss, grief, despair, fear and turmoil they fought together side by side for one another and came out of a deadly and emotional roller coaster the united Victors.

Worth a credit? I'll be honest, at the start there were parts that were harrowing to listen to, but it quickly drew me in like quicksand with all the questions yet to be answered, all the suspense and twists yet to be revealed, all the heartache yet to be felt and all the drama yet to unfold. This was a mind-blowingly awesome listen and, as my heart rate picked up, my pulse pounded, my senses were strung out and my sleep pattern was shattered.... I knew that I'd never ever ever heard a book quite like this before as I relished every second and that it's going to haunt me in the days to come as I ponder, savor and re-live this intense journey. Book 1 was Nora's POV, books 2 and 3 were thankfully dual POV's, great narration, a host of secondary characters and a strong Hero and Heroine who are both loveable but for very different reasons and YES a 10 star creditworthy epic listen..... but you have been warned!!

Not for me!

SPOILERS! I only got about 20 min in. At first it was so bad(cheesy) that it was still entertaining. I kept listening, thinking, once the story moves on it will get a little more serious. It got serious alright. Within the small amount of time I listened to this book the main character is raped. I understand that this is a story based upon the story of Hades capturing Persephone, but I just was not ok with what I was listening to. And I would have liked a warning. Also, the voice acting is alright, but cheesy.

If you're going to write a rape fantasy series...

Would you listen to another book narrated by Shirl Rae and Roberto Scarlato ?

I didn't care for the female narrator -- came off a bit too clinical somehow.

Any additional comments?

If you're going to write a rape fantasy series...I feel you should be more upfront about what it is. Since it's fiction, in a way, it's consensual, it all came from one woman's mind and I purchased it knowing that there were nonconsensual aspects present. However, it would have served the author, characters and listeners better if more attention was paid to the disturbing nature of kidnapping a barely legal woman to keep for the REST OF HER LIFE. It takes about a day for this girl to get used to the idea of being a perma-captive, and she doesn't really ever seem to care all that much about never, ever seeing her parents again after she realizes how hot this dude is. I just feel that if you're going to, again let's be real, romanticize an abusive relationship, make sure there is actual tension, real resentment, real fight, and real confusion about your situation. It flatlined almost immediately because the characters didn't go anywhere in their thinking -- they assumed their roles of captive and kidnapper from the start and comfortably stewed there through the entire series. The author would constantly take abusive situations and give them a new name -- a friendlier, sillier term that would undermine the gravity and depravity of the situation. I can't remember a specific example now, I just remember laughing out loud. It's basically a story of a seemingly normal girl who gets kidnapped and likes it because fuck autonomy and gets a pretty sweet tan in the process, you know what I mean? This author takes a fucked up, suspenseful premise and declaws it herself.

I Hate, Like, Hate, Like Julian

Where does Twist Me: The Complete Trilogy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a dark romance. I use the romance lightly. Julian is borderline sociopath and a true sadist. Thru the first book and half of the second book I just hate him. Then he starts to show signs of care and compassion then I remind myself what he has done without remorse.

This trilogy starts out a little slow for me but picks up quick and stays fast paced, action packed and I cringed, closed my eyes, and said no, no, no, more times than I can remember.

The second and third book has dual narration. Narration is very good and keeps you interested in the edge of your seat action and the cringing sadism of Julian.

Three books (26 hours of entertainment) for the price of 1 Credit. Hell yah it's worth the credit.

I have the spin-off Capture Me in my library to listen to next. This book is about Lucas and Yulie. In the third book Yulie betrays Julian and Lucas so Lucas has her captured and held prisoner in his personal quarter's on the compound.

This is a series I will listen to time and time again.

Against her will

Let's be honest, this book is about getting taken against one's will - literally rape. The main character, a young woman who just turned 18, ends up consenting-if you could call it that (I could not), but I still could not get over the lack of respect and decency from the villain/kidnapper/rapist/love interest.
To be fair, I did not finish the book and maybe it have a happy ending, but I could not stomach the middle to get there.

not dark romance ...just dark

I usually love dubious consent books but this one is triggering beyond anything I've ever read before.

She's an 18 year old virgin...fresh out of high school and has no critical thinking skills.

he's almost 30 and his reason for kidnapping her? he saw her at a club and wanted her ... not even an hour into the book and he's raping her.

There is no real chemistry. its just a stupidly naive girl and poorly written characters.

its completely unbelievable.

I would try other things in this author's catalogue but not dark romances. i

Twist me

Julian is the kind of sadist that will turn you into the submissive type and make you "beg for more even after the third orgasm despite your fear and reluctance". I just had to. The sex toys are definitely present.
