Summary

Triple is the story of the most successful espionage coup - and best kept secret - of this century. This taut espionage thriller comes from master of the genre, Ken Follett.

It is 1968. Israeli intelligence has learned that Egypt, with Soviet help, will develop atomic bombs within months - an untimely end for the young nation unless a source of uranium for Israeli bombs can be had in complete secrecy. Impossible, of course, unless someone as improbable as the plan can be found to steal it.

Working alone, Israeli agent Nat Dickstein concocts an ingenious scenario for the biggest and quietest hijacking in history. Against him are the Russian KGB, Egyptian Intelligence and the Arab extremist Fedayeen. With him is a half-English, half-Arab young woman of uncertain allegiance who discovers Dickstein's Achilles heel....

Exciting story

Ken Follett is, as usual, superb... Excellent twists and turns as well as giving an idea of the complication of the Israeli, Arab tensions in the Middle East...
The reading of the story was terrific although it took a short time to "get into" the reading voice...

Normally I'm a big Follett fan

Seemed like a slow long book lacking the normal pace and tension I've come to expect from a Follett thriller. I don't think that this was helped by the very flat narration.

Boring

If this was the first book I had read by the author I wouldn't have read any others. I have read several by the author and this was my least favourite. I got lost a couple of times and nearly gave up at one point. I like my spy thriller books but this fell short.

Middle of the road...

A summer beach read maybe. I found the story actually quite stretched - too many convenient plot twists and shallow characters. A reasonably entertaining listen but you won’t feel particularly enriched by the experience.

Another gripping tale from Ken Follett

Nice background to Middle East issues in late 1960s. All characters drawn in a reasonably balanced way.

Classic Airport Paperback

Great to revisit a classis Cold War thriller. 40 + years later Israel is still there and so is Iran, although even the author couldn't foresee the 1979 revolution.
Good narration, although the pronunciation of Wiesbaden made me cringe.
