About this listen

With this brilliant foray into historical fiction, Christy Award finalist Sandra Byrd delivers a fresh look at Anne Boleyn through the eyes of her lifelong friend Meg Wyatt. As Anne finds favor with Henry VIII, Meg basks in the glow of Anne’s glory. But when Anne falls out of favor, the childhood friends are plunged into a maelstrom of slander and intrigue that tests the limits of their loyalties and puts their lives - and the lives of their loved ones - in grave danger.

Enjoyable book offering a different view of Ann's story through the eyes of her close friend. I found the repeated over use of some words (such as "mayhap") a little irritating but overall I really did enjoy this alternative telling of Ann's story.
I do read a lot of both fact and fiction about this historical period and this is one of the better books Ive read recently

Alternative perspective on Anne Boleyn

I really enjoyed this book, it looks at Anne’s character in a whole new way and it was definitely an interesting take on the age-old assumptions we’ve all become so used to.
The narration wasn’t great, several words were terribly mispronounced, which is always irritating.
Over all, a very enjoyable read.

A fantastic take on Anne Boleyn’s story.

This is a new take on Anne and is an interesting, moving and enjoyable book. Beautifully written, I'd highly recommend.

An Alternative Anne

I really liked that the story was told from Meg’s, nor Anne’s point of view. Also that it delved deeper than the usual narratives about Anne and her motivations. This created a believable picture of a complex woman.
It was well read and characterised by the narrator.
The author made the effort to use what might have been some of the language of the time and this helped to make it feel authentic. It was jarring, however, to hear the us of the term “off of”. This is an American saying and we don’t say it here in England - I’m not sure they did then either. A small point but it dragged me out of the story.
Overall, an enjoyable book with a more uplifting ending than you might expect.
