About this listen

Once upon a time, a man chose love.

Do you believe you can know someone inside and out? Know every piece of them. Their passion, their pain, their happiness and grief?

Do you think it’s possible there’s one person out there that’s meant entirely for you? That out of everyone you meet in your lifetime and everyone you miss, you’ll find them without fail?

Fate.

Soulmates.

Do you believe in it?

I didn’t. But everything changed with him.

This book is an absolutely beautiful exploration of love in its various forms, down to a soul level. I sobbed from the pure beauty of love explored in this book. It’s told in 4 parts, 4 paths if you will. Is it a traditional straightforward romance? Not so much to me. More of a story about love itself and it is romantic as heck but different than one might expect for a romance book.

The prose in this book is so captivating and the story had me in tears of beauty and joy. It is an LGBTQIA book, long form acronym used purposefully, and also has open-door scenes that integrate well with the love aspect. The plot has bits that maybe leave a bit to be desired so if you’re a big plot-details person, it may not work for you. But for the prose and feelings and characters and vibes, it’s 10/10 for me! Loved it!!

The narration is excellent. However, I do think the production/quality could use some work - I found one of the narrators quieter or louder than the other and there were parts where it seemed like lines were edited in and sound quite different to the rest. If you have the choice, I’d go physical/ebook for this. If you don’t, the audiobook is still very enjoyable and as I said, narration itself is good.

Gorgeous Story

Brace yourself for the emotional chokehold of a lifetime. Book 1 is Jasper & Abraham, book 2 Charlie & Arthur, book 3 Grayson & Ezra and book 4 Caspian & Lee. Wasn’t until book 4 that I realised the wonderful weaves of love and it was captivating. I cried practically all the way to the end. No joke. Kept sobbing. I urge you to get the bonus epilogue from BookFunnel if you want to cry some more. This book was beautifully crafted. Bravo 👏 bravo 👏

Excellent story 👏👏👏

Emmy you're a literary genius. Such an original storyline. I gasped when (and how) the fourth main couple met! How original! Why has this never been a storyline before. Spoke to my spirit, it did. This book is a masterpiece. Some of the audio was bouncing from a voice to another so you could easily tell it had been recorded at a different time. But I believe only Zachary's audio. Both narrators did an excellent job and I already want to listen to it again.

Firstly the audio is absolutely terrible. I can’t believe I’m
about to say this but being duet actually ruined it. I don’t like Zachary’s voice anyway he’s too breathy and tortured sounding constantly. I find him so irritating but in this he’s abysmal. The way their recordings sounds so different is jarring. Tim is nice and clear and Zach sounds like he’s in another room. It’s so weird when they’re supposed to be side by side having a conversation. I’m almost positive a 3rd actor is used to patch up certain bits which is also bad.

Now the book. I was so excited for this, I live for a good soulmate story. Part 1 and 4 are good. Part 1 the best. Part 2&3 are just terrible, I actually hated both. In the end I just skim read both on my kindle I couldn’t stand to listen fully on audio. Part 4 was cute as it’s such a nice round up and ties everything together. The epilogue was also nice. The extended epilogue available directly from Emmy website is actually my favourite part of the entire book. In short, not worth reading - sorry 😬

Not worth the credit!

Instead of a novel, this is four very loosely connected novellas, and each one feels very rushed and overly fluffy. There is no real world or character building, so it’s hard to emotionally connect with anyone, and that makes the entire premise fall flat.

As for the audiobook, I love that it’s duet, but the production wasn’t great. There is a lot of strange dubbing throughout from a third narrator who doesn’t match either of their voices, and each time it’s jarring and broke my immersion. I think Tim Paige did a great job with his parts though.

Not what I expected
