This book develops the nocebo concept to demonstrate the nonsense of trying to understand illness as either physical or psychological in nature, as sadly so many doctors and patients still do, to their detriment. The chapter on well documented deaths being caused by curses or by incorrect diagnoses of terminal cancer is particularly fascinating

What a fascinating book. The narration is clear and topic is mind-blowing, literally, but very sympathetically approached. I am now much less likely to succumb to “nocebo” effects (the evil twin of the placebo effect) thanks to the information in this book- many thanks to Helen Pilcher! Well worth a listen (or read) - you will not regret it!
