I'm not really a zombie fan. I think they can often be cliché and all get a bit samey. What sets William Hale Harrison's book apart is the excellent descriptive writing and the deep, multifaceted characters. They don't just have a single superficial motive, they have complex backstories and histories that makes them feel like real people. Even side characters feel fully fleshed out and have you caring for them within a few moments. For me this is what sets the novel head and shoulders above others. I just can't wait for the subsequent books to be released on audible!

Refreshing take on a zombie novel

Yawn. A totally forgettable story full of cliches. I stuck with it but it was tough going. The poor story was in no way helped by the narrator who mispronounced words and was not good at accents. I winced at the attempted Indian and Japanese accents and cringed when, inexplicably, the American accents ended up sounding northern English.. just weird. I will not be buying any more by this author nor narrator.

I ordered this by mistake, but thought I’d give it a go. 4 hours from the end, I’ve given up. The story is corny and clichéd, and interspersed with naïve political commentary. While the flow of the reading is adequate, some words are mispronounced and the attempts at different accents embarrassingly bad.
