About this listen

She'll steal anything if it means finding the cure for a deadly strain of magic.

Ever since the ancient Ceteri “blessed” Earth’s inhabitants with Thaumaturgy, Lee has been able to enter the Liminal Realm, where she can influence the world without being seen or heard. But each time she uses her magic, it tears her cells further apart. Like a cancer, the magic eats away at her from the inside out.

Fortunately, her ability makes her invaluable to the thieving crew she works for. Unfortunately, the crew is going broke. Lee is determined not to go down with them. She just has to steal enough to buy the coordinates for the Ceteri’s home world and convince them to heal her, even if it means losing her abilities. But when the crew hires on a new bit of muscle to help out with a last-ditch heist, Lee finds herself being tracked and her motives questioned by the crew.

To make matters worse, the FBI is hot on Lee’s trail, and they’re closing in. Racing against arrest and her own death, can Lee reach the Ceteri in time?

Fans of the Dresden Files and the Isabella Hush series will devour Bree Moore’s dark, new magic heist series.

I absolutely loved this audiobook which I received in exchange for an honest review. Narration was brilliant and it’s an absolute page turner. Urban fantasy at its best, with elements of magic and even a feeling of sci-fi thrown in (bit of an X-men vibe!). I’m not going to detail what it’s about as others already have. It’s enough to say that it’s fast paced, enjoyable with a whole host of engaging characters. I also have a feeling there’s going to be some romance as well. A must read!

overall this story and narration was good . At first it was a little slow for my liking (I did speed up the narration speed to 1.4) but when the story picked up I got into it. The world building and overall story line is worth further checking out.

I had a hard time getting into the story to start with and felt it was dragging. I however kept pushing forward and finished the book the last quarter of the story was very intense and fun. A few characters surprised me with their loyalty and disloyalty. Nice narration.

Lee was such an entertaining character she was strong in some parts but obviously the stresses she was facing made this harder for her to maintain this strength. Im excited to see what the future holds for Lee as she truely did capture my attention and interest.

Thief of Magic, the first book in the Shadow Minds series, is a wonderfully written YA fantasy with elements of urban and sci-fi. The story is well-written and well-plotted, with a fascinating premise. Moreover, Bree Moore has done a fantastic job with world-building; I was definitely intrigued by the various unique and imaginative creatures and characters. The main cast is well-developed, colourful, and appealing. The storyline is totally engaging and entertaining; I'm certainly looking forward to finding out what comes next.

Krys Janae did an excellent job with the narration, capturing the diversity in the characters, breathing life into them and the story. If your looking for an entertaining YA fantasy, Thief of Magic is a great pick.
