Summary

The Wow O’ Rivven is a great example of George McDonald's wonderful storytelling. Rivven is Ruthven, Aberdeenshire, and The "Wow o Rivven" refers to the local church bell. The hero of the story is the old "fool", also known as "colonel" who is buried near to the old bell.

A sad story well narrated

This is the first writing of George Macdonald I have read and I plan to read more. I know he is very well regarded in America but is less well appreciated in his home town of Huntly which is also my home.
