Life altering wisdom

Although not terribly religious, I am a Christian and have been moved by the authors incorporation of gods word. it is very rare to come across a therapist to do so. I winced and was horrified by some of the clarity which was sensitively and courageously written.
I will listen again.

This helped me understand why I do the things I do

Any additional comments?

I appreciate how this book articulates how these people have been wounded. It helps me know that I am not alone and helps me take solace in the fact that what I thought was crazyness was not just me but others have trouble being connected fully to others and have unhealthy behaviors. Most important for me.. there is hope

This book was so helpful!

Loved it! Was so thankful my counselor recommended it to me. I'm going to listen again and read the print version again and get "Healing the Wounded Heart" to continue this journey of healing and discovery of my hearts condition.

Life changing knowledge

As a sexual abuse victim , I often times felt "light bulbs " going off as I listened to this book. This is not a light hearted read, but it will breath life and bring light into a dark and confusing room of ones abused soul. If you sense God tugging on your heart to face past abuse, take courage, as there is healing and freedom on the other side!

hard to hear, but powerful

The information in this book is challenging and will elicit strong emotions and memories. But the relief from guilt and self contempt is so real, it will at times seem unbelievable. Satan does not want you to read this book. He wants you to remain broken. You owe it to yourself to read this book, and receive the healing that God has made available to you through it.

Painfully Phenomenal Answer to Prayers

I have been asking the Lord to remove everything from me that is not of Him. I've been struggling with rage, contempt, and many other behaviors that I just haven't been able to shake. I praise Lord for this book! It helps me to understand the why and how to move past it all so I may walk in the abundant, loving, Christ- and others-centered life that the Lord intended for me! Fabulous book! I highly recommend it, and will definitely use it when ministering to other victims of sexual abuse.

Complicated

It’s understanding is complicated and beyond my understanding even as a Christian. I didn’t get that much out of it. Some of the explanations didn’t make much sense to me.

important book for CSA survivors

excellent and important book about childhood sexual abuse & all sexual abuse.
it goes through the types & all the side effects & how survivors see the world. it helped me understand my behavior & my tainted view of everything. I see everything through these eyes. Once you see the fusion of abuse with everything else it frees you to start separating the two. I'm finally feeling freedom for the first time!

everyone should read this book

upfront this is not a book to listen to with kids around. it is a thought read and it can be graphic at times. that being said I think this is the most informative book I have read on the subject and gives real life helpful answers for how to recover from childhood sexual trauma. this books also has great information on general forgiveness and hope. it does not give trite answers one often hears from the Christian counselor but real in-depth truth and real honest answers. I am a Christian counselor and one of my patients bought this book for herself and so I thought I'd check it out. I am so glad I did. this is going to be so very helpful in my practice.
