Summary

The teachings of the Native Americans provide a connection with the land, the environment, and the simple beauties of life. This collection of writings from revered Native Americans offers timeless, meaningful lessons on living and learning.

Taken from writings, orations, and recorded observations of life, this audiobook selects the best of Native American wisdom and distills it to its essence in short, digestible quotes - perhaps even more timely now than when they were first written. In addition to the short passages, this edition includes the complete "Soul of an Indian", as well as other writings by Ohiyesa (Charles Alexander Eastman), one of the great interpreters of American Indian thought, and three great speeches by Chiefs Joseph, Seattle, and Red Jacket.

Wonderful

I loved this audiobook. It was excellently written and narrated. Interesting and informative, heartwarming and tragic.

Undeniable

I agreed with and treasure the philosophy and logic held within this - and wholeheartedly support the criticisms of Western Religion and Society - it made me weep, made me deeply frustrated with the world as it now, knowing there once was such beauty and wisdom. I boil with frustration that the northern indigenous people of America don't rule the world and at the disgusting Capitalist attitudes we have instead. I must read for all who want a better future: look to the wisdom of the past.

Truthful

This book taught me about our-life of natives.
I will listen to it again.
I will tell all my friends .
It’s so easy to listen too, rather than reading it, as I’m much older now.

Touching

Full with beautiful and inspiring quotes and true stories about the indigineous people's view on the world, their faith but also their sad fate

Very good

I am left with the desire to hear more. It is though a lesson to meditate on what is said, Ni matter how plain or short. Quality over quantity. A very thought provoking collection and a great privilege to have access to this distillation and compilation from such disparate sources.

Great insight into the history of the Native American

Very informative historical analysis of the past. Great knowledge of the natives passed down to our generation.
