About this listen

FROM THE NO. 1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF WAR LORD COMES AN EPIC RETELLING OF THE ARTHURIAN LEGEND

In the Dark Ages, a legendary warrior arises to unite a divided land . . .

_________

Uther, the High King of Britain, is dead.

His only heir is the infant Mordred. Yet each of the country's lesser kings seek to claim the crown for themselves.

While they squabble and spoil for war, a host of Saxon armies gather, preparing for invasion.

But no one has counted on the fearsome warlord Arthur.

Handed power by Merlin and pursuing a doomed romance with the beautiful Guinevere, Arthur knows he will struggle to unite the country – let alone hold back the Saxon enemy at the gates.

Yet destiny awaits him . . .

From the epic and bestselling author who has gripped millions.

it's a great tale and we'll worth a listen, but the narrators murder of the Welsh place names such as Caer Cadarn really grates, all it needed was a little research and a little respect. It really isn't asking a great deal

Great story , awful pronunciation

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely brilliant tale with historical myths and legends woven extremely well into the time period, with lots of attention to detail. Every moment feels real, even when discussing elements such as magic, or the sword in the stone, that have become unreal to the modern reader.

What did you like best about this story?

The unique voice the narrator is able to give each character, and the wonderful pronunciations of Irish, Welsh and Celtic words and names.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Engaging enough to pick up and put down, even as I wanted to devour it in one go.

Excellent, exciting novel extremely well read.

Great story, fast paced, interesting take on the Arthur myth. Narrator's bad pronunciation of Welsh names and stumbling over Welsh constants is a distraction.

I am a big fan of almost all the Cornwall books and this is a series that I have read before. it is great to revisit it and I still enjoyed the story and the characters. it is told in a different way to the usual Cornwall novels with a retrospective first person story

Classic Cornwall
