About this listen

Layla Robinson is not crazy. She is suffering from unrequited love. But it's time to move on. No more stalking, no more obsessive calling.

What she needs is a distraction. The blue-eyed guy she keeps seeing around campus could be a great one - only he is the new poetry professor - the married poetry professor.

Thomas Abrams is a stereotypical artist - rude, arrogant, and broody - but his glares and taunts don't scare Layla. She might be bad at poetry, but she is good at reading between the lines. Beneath his prickly façade, Thomas is lonely, and Layla wants to know why. Obsessively.

Sometimes you do get what you want. Sometimes you end up in the storage room of a bar with your professor and you kiss him. Sometimes he kisses you back like the world is ending and he will never get to kiss you again. He kisses you until you forget the years of unrequited love; you forget all the rules, and you dare to reach for something that is not yours.

So! This story, this love story about a frustrated college professor and his student is obviously smoking hot but so much more.
The psychological evolution from especially the female main character is well described but only through self insight and internal diakogue by this girl. At the beginning i thought she was crazy, but ending the story i kind of like her. She is very pure in her emotional state of being. He is ultimately the one who needs to catch up. I will not spoil, but when in doubt; go read this banger! I loved it!

This girl is crazy! Crazy great maybe!!

Started a little awkward, once in the mood of the story couldn't put it down, all in one day, but what is best, the story keeps going around my mind. So wrong but yet so good. check triggers before you get to it. You will love it.

Great story, couldn't stop listening

Teacher x student. Stalker. But she’s the one doing the stalking. Say no more—I had to pick this up. And with Joe Arden and Anna Riordan narrating the audiobook? That only solidified my decision. This book follows Layla Robinson, a girl suffering from unrequited love. She’s been hopelessly obsessed with her stepbrother, Caleb, ever since their parents got married—and even after they divorced. But now? It’s time to move on. No more stalking, no more obsessive calling. What she needs is a distraction. Enter the blue-eyed guy she keeps running into on campus—who just so happens to be her new poetry professor. Oh, and he’s married. With a six-month-old baby. Thomas Abrams is the stereotypical tortured artist—rude, arrogant, and broody—but Layla isn’t scared of his sharp edges. She may be terrible at poetry, but she’s great at reading between the lines. Beneath his cold, cutting demeanour, Thomas is lonely, and Layla wants to know why. Obsessively. Sometimes, you get what you want. Sometimes, you end up in a bar’s storage room with your professor, and you kiss him. And sometimes, he kisses you back—like the world is ending, like he’ll never get another chance. He kisses you until you forget years of unrequited love, forget the rules, and dare to reach for something that isn’t yours. This book… oh my god. I couldn’t stop listening. The forbidden love was immaculate. The age gap isn’t specified, but you know it’s at least 10+ years. Layla is the pursuer here—she stalks him, pushes him, and their connection? Explosive. But Thomas gives in. He has an affair. And yes, there’s cheating. Thomas is clinging to the last threads of his marriage, but the reality? His wife checked out long before Layla entered the picture. He sacrificed everything for her, tried desperately to hold on, but in the end, there was too much broken between them. The climax? I did not see that coming. The plot twist had me on the edge of my seat. And the spice? SPICING. The chemistry between them was undeniable. That said, the characters were… a lot. Thomas was an asshole (as expected), broody, frustratingly conflicted—but by the end, he learned. After his divorce, he figured out how to love Layla right. Layla, on the other hand? Girl was unhinged. Boy-obsessed, chaotic, a certified homewrecker with a serious woe-is-me complex. And yet? I loved her. She was absolutely delusional at times, and yes, whiny as hell—but she did grow by the end. Not much, but enough. Overall, this book was so good. The narration was fantastic, mostly told from Layla’s perspective, with a few chapters from Thomas sprinkled in—and both narrators killed it. If you love the professor x student trope and aren’t afraid to feel (or to get seriously annoyed with the characters), I highly recommend this one.

Such a beautifully written book where you're really drawn into the main character Layla's perspective. I couldn't put the book down and finished the whole thing in 24 hours! The spice was phenomenal, the story was addictive and the narrators were wonderful. Highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this book!
