About this listen

How to be the parent your ADHD child needs–and to be less frustrated and calmer in the process.

Parenting is hard work. Throw in something like ADHD, and it can seem impossible. Do you often feel stressed, frustrated, disrespected, and just plain tired? Don’t worry: You’re not alone. Nearly 6.2 million children in the United States have been diagnosed with ADHD–you share the faith of all those parents. When you think about the difficulties you face in parenting an ADHD child, you should also think about the difficulties they face navigating a world that wasn’t created with them in mind.

Parenting ADHD children takes a special skill set and requires us to see the world through their lenses But it doesn’t mean children with ADHD can’t be successful. Just look at Michael Phelps and Justin Timberlake...the list goes on and on. We can teach our children to “change their outcomes” and find success by implementing concrete, proven strategies to help them navigate all of life's challenges. The Ultimate Guide to Parenting Your ADHD Child will provide you with the strategies to help your child navigate this world In this book, you will discover:

  • How ADHD affects the entire family, from your other children to your relationship with your spouse
  • A helpful list of ADHD medications, including their benefits and drawbacks
  • Guidelines on managing ‘big emotions’ and impulsive behaviors to avoid meltdowns from your child and yourself
  • Why self-care matters, for both children and parents (and how to get past that Mom Guilt)
  • And so much more….

Don’t let parenting an ADHD child feel like a burden–something you have to “get through.” By employing the techniques in this book, you will find a renewed sense of purpose in parenting your ADHD kid, even if you have tried behavior modifications and still feel hopeless.

My 8-year-old son has autism and ADHD. I found the techniques taught in this book to be helpful to help him have the best and happiest life he can. He acts out often, but it isn’t that he’s trying to be “a bad kid”. It’s because he processes things differently than other kids and that can be difficult for me to know how to handle in the correct way. This books has helped teach me proper techniques for my unique child. I found “the basket method” in this book to be especially helpful for dealing with tantrums.

Excellent techniques to assist with dealing with ADHD. Wise, information rich and clearly tons of experience in this area. Extremely thorough and well presented. I especially like the section on using medication and the implications etc. You will definitely come away with a better understanding and feel more equipped to deal with and face each challenge. I also liked the focus on the type of foods that might make the situation worse. Great book!

Parents sometimes get stressed when their child has medical condition that requires them to on toes the entire time. The author has done a great job in expressing love, care and affection for children with ADHD. He has mentioned great tips, medicine guide and emotional help when they're too low. The book has highlighted the things which are normal with this condition and explains everything in a very concerning way.

This book is excellent! It was clear from the first few paragraphs that the author was well aware of my struggles and those of my family. My husband and I have been battling with how to support our daughter without suppressing her vivacious spirit as she has struggled for years with hyperactive and impulsive habits. Reading this book has made me understand that we are not alone and that, with the correct support, she can and will have a fantastic future. Children and families can choose from a variety of possibilities in this book that has been exquisitely written and well researched to meet their requirements. I've learned through reading this book that although having ADHD might be difficult, it doesn't have to be a burden.
