The Fallen Idol is the chilling story of a small boy caught up in the games that adults play. Left in the care of the butler and his wife whilst his parents go on a fortnight's holiday, Philip realises too late the danger of lies and deceit. But the truth is even deadlier.
At chapter 38, the short story The Fallen Idol begins, and the narrator did a good job with all of the characters. The central plot follows the young son of a diplomat in London, who comes to suspect that his family's butler, whom he idolises, has committed the murder of his wife when she found out about the affair. To be fair, it's a short story, and I find the film of The Fallen Idol much better.
