About this listen

Lesson #1: Trust no one.

Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except…

Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye.

Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says.

But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…

From the New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden comes a chilling story of twisted secrets and long-awaited revenge.

Second book from this author I’ve read with Book Club and definitely the last.
I just find the characters are self absorbed and just glad I don’t have to meet them.
Not sur3 why we had Addies back story if pushing her father down stairs or the bit where she steals house keys. All seems pointless to me.
The book would probably have been a good short story, omitting the endless shoe discussion.
The much lauded twist was just nonsense and was final straw for me.

Just don’t understand the hype

I was intrigued enough to keep listening and wanted to know how it ended but mostly felt frustrated. Overall it wasn’t for me. I also didn’t realise how annoying it would be hearing shoes called pumps ! Ha
The mother surely must be up there for a crappy mother award, did she never think to check in with the school and ask how her daughter was coping after all she had been through. The school would have had protocols in place to keep an eye on her settling back in. The ending was weird . I think I think too much into things to enjoy books like this

Weird

I enjoyed this book so much , the characters and layers to the story .

the layers

A mid range Freida book I’d say. Not as enjoyable as the housemaid series but better than The Wife upstairs. I listened quickly which is a good sign but the final twist felt so unnecessary and didn’t add up, like the author was so determined to add a final shock that she didn’t really think through the practicalities of it.
The characters weren’t likeable, again she writes about stupid females and toxic men. Not pleasant to listen to some parts so definitely needs a TW for SA. But I’m listening to another of hers already so she must be doing something right.

Fairly enjoyable
