Excellent reworking of a classic

The behavior of some characters seemed pretty unnatural, not how real life people would actually behave, but I guess it can be justified with suspended beliefs and this being a pure fiction.
The one thing that kinda still bothered me is that the story itself was somewhat cheap, the plot devices used (mind house, music box) seemed formulaic like in average bestseller psychological thrillers...
That said, I won't acuse it of being predictable, as there were few unexpected moments (although I did feel it was somewhat predictable due to formulaic writing, but still don't think most people would find it predictable).
I was somewhat surprised they managed to integrate the original (somewhat philosophical) question from the original classic into this adaptation and that did get some big point in my eyes, especially since I expected it to be a cheaper sensational retelling missing the point, so I'm glad I was wrong there and it managed to adapt the same question to modern audience (won't say what that question is, although it's a classic, just to be safe and not to spoil it to anyone).
The production was definitely not cheap, and it I'd call it the Hollywood of audio dramas, but as I sad it was somewhat formulaic which I didn't expect when retelling a classic work.
I would still perhaps rate it better, but can't do it after listening to Orwell's 1984 Audio Drama adaptation which was just out of this world.
Please, don't get discouraged by my review as I tend to point out things that I didn't enjoy as much. This audio drama was still very engaging and definitely didn't want to leave it unfinished. In general I did enjoy listening it.
Engaging but seems written in formulaic way
