Poor. If going on previous Tess Gerritsen novels, you’ll be disappointed
This book is not a typical Gerritsen novel. The ghost element is poor and really lets the book down. It has the basis of a good book but trying too hard with the sex (not everyone wants to read 50 shades of grey)

Terrible story
I used to love Tess Gerritsen but she seems to have run out of ideas. I found it very predictable, usually I can’t guess the ending but this one was clear from about halfway through.
The characters are pretty awful, luckily it had a cat. He was the best.

Huge fan bit disappointed
I normally love Tess Gerritsen's books but I found this story a bit of a weird one. The sex scenes were cringe worthy (especially the ghost related ones), but maybe if I'd read the book myself rather than listened to it, it may have been better. I didn't enjoy the narrator's voice or tone throughout, so that added to my dislike. I admire the author's willingness to try new things though.

Bad narrator
I quite enjoyed this book although it’s very different from the other Tess Gerritsen books. The ghostly 50 Shades of Grey storyline was completely unnecessary - could have done without such nonsense. But the worst bit was the narration - Hillary is extremely monotone and I found it very difficult to listen to her flat, bored, unexcited voice. She sounded completely uninterested in what she was reading. Would not buy any other audiobook narrated by her!

Not her best
I love tess gerritsen books and have read them all. I usually love her stand alone novels, but the story of the sea captain was just a bit far fetched, it felt like she was trying to replicate a Du Maurier book but the suspense was just not believable. It’s the first time I have though about giving up and not finishing one of her books. Narrator is great, just not great material
