Fabulous story, poor performance
There are two narrators and they switch between themselves with no apparent reason, causing confusion. The Scottish accent is grating and dour, which Jamie isn’t in the books and is indistinguishable from the Irish accents. The supposed English accent shows traces of American eg ‘corfee’ for coffee. It’s minor but grating.

A good story but painfully bad accents...
The narrator's Scottish and Irish accents were so bad they nearly put me off listening to the story. They were really appalling! A shame as the story was otherwise enjoyable.

Extraordinary accents!
Would you try another book written by Diana Gabaldon or narrated by Jeff Woodman and Rick Holmes ?
I will listen to any book by Diana Gabaldon, even if it is narrated by Jeff Woodman and Rick Holmes. I thought the two narrators were very annoying and frequently found myself shouting at the recording to tell them how to pronounce even quite common words properly. As to their "Scottish" accents - if it wasn't English characters that they were vocalizing, then their default seemed to be Irish. If it hadn't been such a good story, I would have given up on this after the first couple of chapters.

The story fills in some blanks and provides more background to the main novels
What didn’t you like about Jeff Woodman and Rick Holmes ’s performance?
Their pronunciation of even quite common words had me shouting at the recording and their alleged "Scottish" accents were awful!

Good book shame about the narrator
The narrator spoils this book and makes it boring to listen to,which is a shame as I have enjoyed the whole of the outlander series. I believe it as well written and I did want to know more about Lord John but it has put me off getting any more of these books.
The narrator is good for other works but nothing with a Scottish accent as it all comes out Irish and Jamie no longer sounds like Jamie. Lord John should sound very English with the old plumb in the mouth type in this book it just doesn't happen.

Accents
I nearly didn’t buy this book because of the comments but I love John Grey and Jeff Woodman greatly contributes to this. Jeff Woodman does not do Jamie.
Yes, there was a trace of an Irish accent when Rick Holmes spoke for Jamie but he is a man of few words and not as bad as some comments would have you believe.
All in all, another great story and certainly worth a listen.

Jamie Fraser is Scottish not Irish...
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Outlander and Lord Grey universe. But I’m afraid this audiobook was not for me. Whilst I’m sure the narrator is very experienced, I just could not get past the incredibly poor Scottish accent. I had to stop listening. I tried, despite the warning reviews. But I’m afraid they were right.

Great story shame about the voices
First listen but have read the book a few times. Both voices grated - RP English with US pronunciations, Scots that sounds like Irish, won't stop me listening again or indeed buying the other Lord John books but such a shame they didn't get Davina Porter to do these too..
