Summary

Wesley Gates is down on his luck. He's drowning in debt. His demanding career isn't letting up. And, to top it all off, after years of ignoring their failing marriage, his wife has had enough.

Heartbroken and in desperate need of a place to stay while he gives his wife the space she's asked for, Wes is shocked when he runs into a familiar face from his past. As they catch up, Wes can't help feeling grateful to spend time with someone who remembers who he was during their glory days, long before his life fell apart. So, when Elias offers to rent out his spare bedroom, it seems like the answer to all Wes' problems. Wes takes his old friend up on the offer without hesitation.

But soon, Wes realizes moving in with Elias may have been a mistake. Between the wild mood swings, strange occurrences, and total disregard for his new roommate's privacy, Wes begins to wonder if Elias will be his savior or his worst nightmare.

When his wife reveals devastating news that destroys the final bit of shaky ground Wes was standing on, his new roommate may be all he has left.

Maybe that's what Elias wanted in the first place.... Or maybe it's all in Wes' head.

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyable, fast-paced thriller

There was no real mystery to this story. I found it easy to guess where the plot was going. However, the pace of the plot, the believable protagonist and the good narration kept me entertained until the end.
I will definitely be sampling another of this author's novels.

This was an enjoyable listen even though you could tell where the book is going pretty well on you cant help listen to see how exactly it is going to unfold. I felt sorry for Wes as he just did not seem to get a break even though it seemed to me that he was doing his very best to try and sort things out with himself and his wife. But this long lost friend he bumps into you could tell from an early stage that he was no friend of Wesley's. I would recommend to listen to this as it is very entertaining and Stephen did do a good job with the narration . I will definitely listen to more of Kiersten Modglin books

Intriguing

Decent enough psychological thriller. Was different having it with a man against a man, manipulation ect. Baseline is usual a man against a woman! A wee twist that wasn't plainly obvious. A sicko that spent years working on his plan.
The book was OK, the main character was very whiny which I guess is the reason he always got his own way, ramp that up by 100% once he was no longer getting his own way. It was always oh but poor me, me, me.
knew someone like that once 😆.

This book was well written and enjoyable to listen too, not overly complicated, I enjoyed this on a stressful day when I needed a good story to catch my attention.
