Summary

In the final book of Shelby Gallagher‘s A Great State trilogy, Julie and Ned embark on their perilous journey from Colorado to Pierce Point, Washington, where Julie will rescue - and adopt - baby Addison. Julie hopes to save her from the danger that is only growing more extreme as society continues to collapse, and Addison can no longer be safely cared for by her biological parents.

Meanwhile, unrest in Oregon continues to intensify and violence in the city becomes deadly as cultures clash and lawlessness begins to rule. Strange murders are happening regularly, and the guilty parties will go to great lengths in order to preserve their freedoms. The Rescue chillingly shows the lengths people will go to, so they can survive and thrive in times of chaos and uncertainty.

Will Julie and Ned survive the mission through the mountains so that they can save an innocent life and help usher in a new generation of self-reliant survivors? What will become of Julie’s ex-husband once he surrenders his parental rights? Will Julie’s incompetent brother make it through the collapse on his own? Will the violence that is overtaking Oregon make its way to the Great States?

A Great State - The Rescue

I was really looking forward to the finality of this trilogy. However, I was a little confused by some of the surrounding story involving the Gay Nightclub killings. They were almost not related to our story at all. That whole story could have easily been left out. But then again, that's why I'm not a writer. The transfer of Addison from Steve Atwood to Julie Atwood was a great lead up. I wasn't sure if they'd get it done, but they did. The idea to use some of the characters from 299 Days was genius and how they prepared for the trek from Pierce Point back to Colorado. The love story between Ned and Julie took a while and you could see that they were getting closer and closer. That was a nice touch. I felt for Ned every time he talked to and with Julie. He was truly in love and it showed when he selfishly trekked with Julie to rescue Addison. I would have liked to see a wedding (maybe not a shotgun wedding, but one attended with AR's and Ak's), but maybe that's in a future book. Keep up the good work Shelby.

Disappointing end to the story!

Very much enjoyed the first two books. They were well developed and left you wanting more. While I was satisfied with the close out of the Julie storyline, the author introduced a new tangents that seemed to only be a filler that was under developed and not well thought out. Also a few main characters were also left unresolved. Again 5 stars to the first two books but this was a disappointing end to a trilogy I had enjoyed.

good follow up to previous books

I like this story line and loved books 1 and 2. In book 3 it takes a whole different group of people in and tells more about Portland but I didn't love that aspect of the story. It seemed a bit distracting to the original story line and group of people. The series overall is really good!

Good conclusion to the series

Good ending to the story, it does leave you wondering a little what happens to some of the minor characters, but not enough to impact the overall story. I definitely recommend this to anyone.

For the Independent Women In Your Life

by Independent Women I mean truly independent not the ones that believe they are independent because they get money from various organizations or feel they are entitled to use the government to extract money.

Attention grabber!

All theee of Shelby Gallagher’s books held my attention from start to finish. I had a hard time putting the books down!

Good news folks, the Great States will prosper.

If you follow Shelby Gallagher and current national events, the prosperity of the Great States should come of no surprise. The Great State trilogy has been extremely enjoyable for me. A female perspective, a new post apocalyptic storyline, and a series that doesn’t go forever was very refreshing for this post apocalyptic junkie. Thank you Shelby for my fix. Now, get back to writing before my cravings get worse.

Not bad

Not an action filled type book. Mostly surviving scenarios caused in the collapse of the nation due to policies. It’s pretty slow.
