Summary

Surviving in a tough situation is not always the best option; sometimes dying is much better than staying alive. The Academy showed Paladin Yaropolk what makes the world go round: pragmatism and personal gain. Restart was set in motion, but it only makes players more frantic. Now everyone plays only for themselves. Yaropolk faces the same dilemma: be like all of them, or keep his humanity and be known as an odd duck. Because there is only one rule in this world: kill or be killed....

A poor sequel

Starts OK - then gets progressively more and more muddled - multiple sub-plots and the MC, despite his overpowering ability to garner and retain info, becomes increasingly stupid and increasingly less likeable. Very under-whelming - will not bother with the rest of it

Diappointing.

I really enjoyed the first book, but something went wrong with this one.

First off, the narrator is reading, not acting. So many times I hear things like "Someone screams," or "He drawled" but the line of dialogue is recited in normal speech.

There are some odd translation quirks, as the translator occasionally chooses quirky English words that make me feel like the guy is from a long forgotten decade. Example: "hullabaloo" Who says that in 2020?

I don't know if this is a problem with the translation problem or the original text, but the dialogue is painfully unnatural. This is compounded by the narrator's lack of acting.

Not a fan of the sexism either. All the women except one are either sex objects, or helpless incompetents.

I'll give book 3 a try since I already bought it, but overall this was a very disappointing purchase.
