Summary
Foul play was always suspected in the disappearance twenty years ago of two young holidaymakers in the area. Now a young boy out playing has confirmed this grim truth. Their remains, discovered with those of a fresh victim, send the town into shock.
Local detective Patrik Hedstrom, expecting a baby with his girlfriend Erica, can only imagine what it is like to lose a child. When a second young girl goes missing, Hedstrom's attention focuses on the Hults, a feuding clan of misfits, religious fanatics and criminals. The suspect list is long but time is short - which of this family's dark secrets will provide the vital clue?

Good listening
I enjoyed this story - I did find it a little complicated with all the different family layers - but sorted them out in my head before too long. it was full of suspense and held my interest, I had no idea who the killer was until near the end.

A bit longwinded
Yes I finished it, but more of some sort of zen than actually being that interested. Not as good as book 1. Truly gory in parts too.

Solid story
Although very little is new here it is told well and the twists and turns of the plot are not too obvious. I could have done with a little less of the annoying visitors who seemed to be there for comic relief.

Awful narrator
Enjoyed the story but almost stopped listening because of the narrator. Just sounds like someone off the street reading a story put in front of him for the first time. Voice awful - especially the female ones. Other than that a good listen.

enjoyable story
It was an enjoyable listen...I'd say Scandinavian Agatha Christie. Not quite a masterpiece but it fit together nicely. I guessed the wrong murderer, so that was a good surprise.

Swedish is not so easy
The story is very exciting but the narrator struggles with the pronunciation of the Swedish names of people and places.

An excellent Scandinavian murder mystery
2003: The body of a tortured woman shows up on top of two other bodies, both killed in 1979. The police need to solve both set of murders and discover the circumstances that link them to each other. The suspects all belong to the same family, the descendents of a faith-healer and preacher. Well read and well paced, this is a treat for fans of Scandinavian murder mysteries. I would love to listen to more of Camilla Lackberg's books.

Enjoyable Easy Listening
Having started my 'path' through Scandanavian mystery novels with Stieg Larsson and then moving onto Henning Mankell I decided to try another scandanavian writer....
I enjoyed this story all the way through and while it didn't grip me the same as Stieg Larson's trilogy I did find it an enjoyable and easy listening experience and am going to purchase the other English version book by the same author.
As another reviewer said I would like to hear more scandanavian crime novels available on audible.
