"A rich chocolate box of a novel." ( Good Housekeeping)

I rarely listen to a book twice but this one I did albeit with a 7 year gap. Characters you care about and a bit of a mystery together with a split time story all rolled up with wit and humour. Loved it. Judith Boyd absolutely nailed the narration to round it off perfectly.

Not quite as good as her later works, this is still a satisfying well-written read. I lost the thread at times, but stick with it, it is very worthwhile. Some people write about not liking the characters, but there are actually alot of endearing people in the book, if you stick with it. Even those who appear les
s appealing have reasons for their behaviour and they grow and develop over the book. I found myself warming to them as the novel moved on. Not all people in real life are easy, but those people are often complicated and investing in them provides rewards, as this book shows. JoJo is always very perceptive with her characters. Thank you for another great book.

It took me a while to get into it, and I got a bit confused as the beginning as it was setting the scene and introducing the key characters for a while which don't really match the blurb, however the more you go through, the more you realise how important that was. It was definitely worth being patient and persevering!

Slow start but worth being patient!

like the main female character in this book very selfish. Wasn't over keen on how it jumped from one chapter to the next without saying which character it was talking about which got a bit confusing at times. The narrator was good at pronouncing words but not very good at the characters voices some sounded like other characters voices so I couldn't tell which one she was doing at times.

I didn't....
