To know all is to forgive all

This is a much heavier weight novel than it at first seems. Through the telling of background stories and the retelling of events the true complexity and roundedness of the characters are revealed and the reader is - without ant preaching on the part of the author - compelled to put aside any judgmental attitudes and embrace compassion and understanding at every level.

Mixed feelings

Though not Jojo Moyes’ best, and after a slow start, I really got into this book. I was devastated (Snoopy-style projectile tears) at the sad bits, celebrated with an unpleasant swooping gut-wrench at the bittersweet bits (as you do in real life) and was generally satisfied by the ending. Shame nobody spat in Rosemary’s tea though, horrible old bag! The narration bothered me throughout - Judith Boyd, though she tried really hard to perform it well, has a voice that does not appeal to me. And there was one bit in the book that was acted so badly it was mildly comical (okay, very comical, though it really wasn’t supposed to be!) - I feel guilty for slating her, sorry Judith! So yes. Not her best or most interesting book but there are bits that sucker punch you in the chest, the narration isn’t fabulous either but having just finished, I miss it.

Not my favourite Jojo Moyes

I really really struggled to connect with the main character. At some points really disliked her childish manners. I did enjoy the story though, but not nearly as much as Jojo's others.
The narrator was excellent and conveyed the characters well.
Unfortunately, this won't be a story I would like to reread in the future.

Great story boring narrator

Loved the story, origionally loaned the book from the local library but was struggling to read it properly as the children kept taking bookmarks out. The narrator really didn't do it for me, the voice was pretty annoying so struggled to get into the audio book.

Not one fo her best!

I listened to this as a fan of the authors but it made me feel that if I had heard this one first I would never have listened to her other far far better later novels! It was altogether disappointing and some of the narrative just did not fit particularly towards the end.

Unusual and enchanting book

Slow burner, beautiful story, shed lots of tears. Stick with it, it's worth the commitment.

okay

This book had a great story line, with lots of twists and turns, however it was too long for it to have as much impact. The main character in the modern time frame is highly dislikeable, which does make it hard to get into the book. The book deals with some hard topics, and does so well, however this doesn't make up for some poor characters.

Mediocre

This was written a long time ago, it isn't a new novel
The story is all over the place and doesn't really flow
It's a slow starter but kind of worth a read if you have nothing else to do
I would return it but it was part of a sale selection
Not her best work unfortunately
