About this listen

At the gates between worlds. In a war outside of time. They fight for us.

The man they took prisoner was not the Jonathan Tibbs they remembered. He said that time was running out. That the world faced an enemy it could not defeat. He said everything depended on whether or not they could make a leap of faith.

Then, he asked them for five nuclear warheads.

The Never Army is the final installment in The Chronicles of Jonathan Tibbs - a mind-bending, genre-crossing, multiple award-winning, action-adventure trilogy.

The Chronicles of Jonathan Tibbs has sold over 50,000 copies worldwide and garnered over 5,000 five-star reviews on Amazon, Audible, and Goodreads.

Finally, after 4 years the trilogy is complete and it is worth it. I enjoyed listening to it, how the story expanded, and added other characters like Jonathan. Great conclusion to the story, I may listen to the whole series again soon.

Brilliant ending, finally!

Great story, amazing use of the Never's mechanics and interesting ideas immortals and familial disagreements. Though I wish the ending was a bit more explored. But overll very satisfying.

Excellent story, told brilliantly.
Will be purchasing a hard copy, as I feel I've cheated the author by only spending 3 credits to experience it.

Well worth purchasing.

I absolutely loved this book.
It has so many twists and reveals that have no business working as well as they do.
And, as mentioned in the title, the final battle is simply magnificent.
It somehow manages to have all of the main characters plans work perfectly while also making it feel like he’s losing.
The fight’s conclusion is also the perfect amount of satisfaction and tragedy. The author truly get across just how hollow a fight like this would leave all those involved.
I think the only ending that has ever left me in such a beautifully conflicted state was was the one of Lord of the Rings trilogy, which is the highest compliment I could ever give a story.

The narrator is amazing. His range and skill is sincerely baffling at times. The way he can give each character a distinct voice, making all of them sound like a entirely different person is speaking made me forget I wasn’t listening to a Dramatized Edition for most of the way through this experience.
The only issue with the performance was the fact that the sound editing was off in places. It was very clear where they merged multiple takes. The energy of the voice and even the volume changed abruptly in the middle of a paragraph or sometimes even a sentence.
This doesn’t happen often, though, I think it’s once every six hours or so, but it still knocked me out of my emersion every single time it happened so, I couldn’t honestly give it the five stars that the narrator deserves.

The plot, story and characters were so incredible that I actually managed to turn off my biologist brain for once and actually just enjoy the experience.
Not that the biology wasn’t good, it’s actually some of the best worldbuilding I know of. Hodges is the first author I’ve read so far that has actually managed to write a story that has selective breeding and biological compatibility be so central to the plot while also keeping it so real life accurate.
My only issue is with the persistent reducing of the human spectrum of sex to a binary.
I understand that societal norms would have your believe that there is only XX and XY going on with us humans but it still makes me sad when an author that has clearly put a lot of effort and done a lot of research for their work still misses the mark on this one thing.
It usually only happens because it’s something so normalized that most of us don’t even think to look into it further.
This is the reason I could not bring myself to give a full five stars to the other two books in this series but this one was just too good for me to be able to bring myself to care.

The BEST final battle I have ever read
