Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

But there is an alternative to working your butt off for decades and retiring when you're worn out: it's called financial independence, and it means being able to cover life's essentials and afford the luxuries you want without having to turn up to a job each day.

A truly excellent listened as expected
After listening to Pete's podcast for some time I had some expectation of what this would be like. This audiobook brings together the important content of what everybody should be working towards with their finances. Pete explains everything slowly and clearly without coming across as condescending. he also explains things in a compassionate manner and understands what for majority of people need to do to secure their future finances.
Great work Pete and thank you. I'm glad to finally give something back by purchasing this audiobook. It won't be long until I'm invested into a passive multi asset fund ;)

Still valuable even after listening to pods
As a meaningful money podcast listener I wondered whether there would be anything new to learn from this book, and there was some repeat of info previously shared, but was still a valuable listen to solidify the concepts.
Basic rationale for looking at where the money goes... and... more importantly focusing your mind on where you want to send it. Simplified details on pensions and investments all aimed at the UK market - which is the difficulty with so many other books that aim to turn your finances around but are mainly relevant to the USA.
An easy listen. Not patronising or evangelical. An ideal push in the right direction. Will definite follow this man in whatever other media/books he chooses to put out.

Excellent
As somebody who's never been interested in investing, partly through fear and partly through not really understanding how it all works, this book has been fantastic. It helps ordinary people understand how best to slowly and steadily build wealth without needing to spend a fortune during the early stages on a financial advisor.
For those really wanting to understand all the technical elements, Pete's podcast would be an important part of that, but for those of us who are just looking for a simple explanation of the steps you can take to secure a better financial future, this book is all you need!
