We fought the invading New Men to a standstill and defeated the alien destroyer sent to obliterate Earth.

The worst should be over, but it's not.

Perfect android replicas are impersonating high-level officials so trust is failing. Worse, the New Men have found allies with an impenetrable stealth technology.

When you miss a book and hope it won't end you know it's been good. Enjoyed all 4 books, this the last one was as good as the others and equally enjoyable. Even the small touches of humour worked well, Galleons surprise party revelation to Valerie was excellent. Well thought out well narrated and plenty of Si Fi

I bought this with a little trepidation after reading a review saying it wasn't as good as previous books in the series.

I totally disagree. As usual the book has a good pace, with the usual mix of suspense, action and humour.

Can't wait for the next in the series - I am assuming there will be one.

This instalment of the series certainly isn't the best one. It felt more like a transition in the story from one major plot line to something larger come. On the whole it pretty slow and ponderous; with a lot of earth based back story and not enough space action. The big events around the last builder are certainly a highlight as was the full arrival of a new foe for humanity.

this is the first book I had to listen to twice. there is so much going on,but very enjoyable. narrator was excellent and spoke clearly .how he remembered all the different characters voices was great.

The potential for robust and empowered character arcs seems squandered, and while I appreciate the intricacies of character evolution, this shift felt slightly disappointing.

The pacing and narrative direction raised mixed emotions within me. While the high-octane action sequences effectively held my attention, there were junctures where certain narrative elements treaded a path of familiarity. I concur with the analogy likening it to a mid-season episode of a television series like "Stargate Atlantis," an observation that speaks to the serialized nature of the storytelling, for better or worse.

Yet, even amidst these qualms, there's a silver lining that can't be ignored. The book's ability to maintain my vested interest and keep me engaged attests to its storytelling prowess. The clever infusion of humor and the deployment of unexpected twists contributed depth to the narrative tapestry. The resonance I felt with the characters further underscores the success of the series, evident in my reluctance to bid them farewell at the story's end.
