Summary

The Swarm is coming!

This time, enemy science vessels study us as Hive Masters gather hundreds of thousands of starships for an avalanche invasion.

Instead of facing massed bug fleets in hopeless battle, we have a desperate plan: use a Builder nexus, create a hyper-spatial tube and send suicide-ships thousands of light-years into Swarm territory. There, our ships must find and destroy the nexuses that are the only way back home, all in order to stop the bugs from using the nexuses to reach Human Space.

Despite the grim mission, Captain Maddox is determined to bring his people back. But deep in the Sagittarius Spiral Arm, disaster strikes. All alone in the stellar night, the crew must face a primordial alien that even the Builders feared and the Swarm avoids.

Now begins a deadly battle as Maddox, the crew and Galyan are pitted against a horror of legendary evil as a Swarm battle fleet waits to annihilate the victor.

Excellent

Another gripping instalment of this excellent series. As usual, this one doesn’t disappoint. I can’t wait for more.

A Riveting Descent into the Abyss

While "The Lost Star Gate" seems to bring many loose ends together, there's a sense that this chapter of the saga is drawing to a close. In the middle act of the book, I found certain sections prolonged, particularly during Mako21's preparations and journey. However, my hopes remain high for a potential final installment, as there seems to be more of Captain Maddox's journey to explore. With the anticipation of a resounding conclusion, the series' impending end only heightens my curiosity about the adventures yet to unfold.

The Lost Star Gate" masterfully plunges readers into the depths of uncertainty and confrontation. It captures the essence of desperation and unyielding determination against a formidable foe. As the series appears to approach its zenith, this installment delivers a satisfying blend of peril, suspense, and resolution. The promise of another potential tale featuring Captain Maddox adds a layer of excitement, keeping the door open for more captivating narratives. As the Lost Starship Series hurtles toward its climax, I eagerly await the culmination of Captain Maddox's epic journey

Running out of steam

Even though ( or maybe because) this latest book ties most of the loose ends up, there isn't much left to cover. Some of the writing in the middle act seemed endlessly procrastinated. (About Mako21s preparation and journey). It would appear that there is at least one more story to tell for Maddox, i hope it goes out with a bang.
