The female characters from 1951 were brilliantly portrayed and I felt transported back in time.
Molly returns to Ballycotton hiding from her life and is caught up in solving a puzzle involving the Lighthouse keeper's wives in 1951
I loved this story and the narration was perfect
A brilliant dual timeline story that will pull on your heart strings

I had the audiobook of this dual time line book read by Avena Mansergh- Wall who is good providing distinctive voices and accents to easily identify the characters.
Much of the story is told from the perspective of lighthouse keepers wives in the 1950’s with the contemporary perspective provided by Mollie who is a well known tv anchor in the US. Having relationship problems she joins her father to visit her sick grandma in Ireland where she starts digging into family secrets. There’s a teeny bit from an antagonist too.
There’s a few secrets to provide ongoing interest, one of the threads shows how something that we think of as a modern problem is in fact a longer standing one.
I thought I knew exactly where the plot was going but I was fooled.
My favourite part was the 1950’s with the problems that those women and families faced. I gelled with those characters more too. This is usually the case for me with split time lines. I really enjoyed it, it’s easy to listen to, with a good pace for a very character driven story.
My other read by this author is The Stolen Child which was a rare 5⭐️ for me, so now I’m keen to try more.
Enjoyable listening
