Feo's life is extraordinary. Her mother trains domesticated wolves to be able to fend for themselves in the snowy wilderness of Russia, and Feo is following in her footsteps to become a wolf wilder. She loves taking care of the wolves, especially the three who stay at the house because they refuse to leave Feo, even though they've already been wilded. But not everyone is enamored with the wolves or with the fact that Feo and her mother are turning them wild.

Story
A truly original debut novel from an extraordinarily talented new voice in children's books. Laugh, cry and wonder at this race-against-time story of a boy who travels back to 1984 to prevent a go-kart accident and save his father's life.... My dad died twice. Once when he was 39 and again four years later, when he was 12. The first time had nothing to do with me. The second time definitely did, but I would never even have been there if it hadn't been for his 'time machine'....

Summary
The most celebrated, best-selling classic children's novel from Holland, now in English for the first time after more than 50 years of international success....
It is the dead of night. Sixteen-year-old Tiuri must spend hours locked in a chapel in silent contemplation if he is to be knighted the next day. But as he waits by the light of a flickering candle, he hears a knock at the door and a voice desperately asking for help.
A secret letter must be delivered to King Unauwen across the Great Mountains - a letter upon which the fate of the entire kingdom depends. Tiuri has a vital role to play, one that might cost him his knighthood. Tiuri's journey will take him through dark, menacing forests, across treacherous rivers, to sinister castles and strange cities. He will encounter evil enemies who would kill to get the letter but also the best of friends in the most unexpected places.
He must trust no one. He must keep his true identity secret. Above all, he must never reveal what is in the letter....
The Letter for the King is the thrilling story of one boy's battle against evil, set in an enchanted world of chivalry, courage, and true friendship.

Lovely tale of young boys adventure
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it's a great adventure tale, although it's definitely written for young readers.
What did you like best about this story?
I thought the characters were interesting, and I liked the journey.
Which character – as performed by Matt Addis – was your favourite?
Tuari, was my favourite character.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Over 4 days.
Any additional comments?
I thought it was a great book for young readers. I'd seen it everywhere so thought I'd try it. The writing is a bit slow in places, as certain things were painfully obvious but it seemed to take Tuari, a ridiculous amount of time to figure them out, which got irritating sometimes, but it was still enjoyable, and I do want to hear the sequel. If you take it as a book aimed at young readers which it is then it's great, a ripping yarn of adventure, although I did think he was going to have to do a bit more sword fighting on his quest, and instead he seemed to get by, with lucky escapes... All in all, a good children's book, that's also quite engaging for adults.

A return to a childhood sense of adventure :)
Absolutely loved listening to this story!
The tale is enthralling and heartwarming, as we follow Tuiri on the quest he receives from a mysterious stranger. Matt Addis as the narrator would more properly be called a storyteller, whose diligence with accents and characterisation gives unique life to everyone we meet, and adds a invaluable depth to the tapestry of the land we move through.
Would highly recommend, especially if you ever played at being a knight when you were younger!

Fantastic
Such a gripping story with pacing and engaging characters that kept me wanting to keep listening. The experience was made all the better by the narrator Matt Addis who performed so many different characters convincingly; giving each region the protagonist travels to a slightly different accent and dialect, with a breadth of character that helped you recognise specific characters voices. Absolutely loved this story and can’t wait to listen to the next instalment!

Fantastic story and very well read. Matt Addis did a great job, but really got into his stride towards the end of the book. Only thing is that he could have committed more in moments of anger (shouting etc). Really enjoyable!

a good simple adventure story
I did enjoy this story, it's clearly meant for a younger audience as it lacks the peril and depth you may find in perhaps a YA book or adult, they had difficulties but it was never too difficult and bad things happened but they were always sorted in the nick of time, nothing really went too badly. The thing I missed the most was insight into the characters, there's no inner thoughts or reasonings to follow, merely the narrator's own voice to tell you what Turie thinks and sees. I feel a first person perspective would improve the story. but it was a good listen and finished very satisfactorily nicely wrapped up at the end.

The start of an epic trail
A good fun book. Written for a younger audience but it can be enjoyed by everyone. A classic tale which is fun
I don't mean this in a bad way, but its like a diet coke version of Lord of the rings. Less ramble and magic, but still the fellowship and peril
Great narration who brings the many characters to life and keeps it interesting

A wonderful adventure!!!
I first read this book when I was about 12-13 (in the German translation) and I loved it from the first page!
Now after so many years there is finally an English translation (very well done as far as I can tell) and an audiobook. The narrator is very fitting for the story! It feels like your grandfather (or maybe Sir Ristridin himself) is telling you the story while you sit in front of a great fire in a mighty fortress.
The story of Tiuri and Piak is full of friendship, adventure and chivalry.
Of course now, as a sad adult, I can see that there are some things that don't quite make sense, seem too easy or just don't fit together, but it doesn't take away from the magic of the story.
And anyway, hopefully the listeners are young and can thus enjoy the story just like i have done for many years! I will definitely buy the second book as well, I can't wait! Sorry that there are only two books in this series!
If u like Tamora Pierce books you will definitely also enjoy this book!

According to my seven year old child...
Would you listen to The Letter for the King again? Why?
Yes, definitely because I like knights and horses and the story is really gripping. When it's time to put the story down, you want to pick it up again straight away!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Letter for the King?
The most memorable moment (spoiler alert!!!) ...was when Tiuri gave the letter to King Unawen.
What does Matt Addis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
If I had read it myself, many of the words would have been hard to read, so listening ws much more exciting.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Another spoiler alert - the moment I found most sad was when Piak left Tiuri.
Any additional comments?
This is a great book. Listen to it! and Read it too.
