Story
The Templars, Two Kings and a Pope is the novelized reconstruction of a crucial 25-year period in Templar history, before the Order of the Temple was disbanded. At one level, this is the story of a covert war, of the secret organization known as The Brotherhood, and of the one man who stood at the center; a Swiss named Lord Otto de Grandson who became England's King Edward I's right-hand man. At another level, this is a spiritual story about Jesus' secret teachings that he reserved for the select few.

Lovely tale of young boys adventure
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it's a great adventure tale, although it's definitely written for young readers.
What did you like best about this story?
I thought the characters were interesting, and I liked the journey.
Which character – as performed by Matt Addis – was your favourite?
Tuari, was my favourite character.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Over 4 days.
Any additional comments?
I thought it was a great book for young readers. I'd seen it everywhere so thought I'd try it. The writing is a bit slow in places, as certain things were painfully obvious but it seemed to take Tuari, a ridiculous amount of time to figure them out, which got irritating sometimes, but it was still enjoyable, and I do want to hear the sequel. If you take it as a book aimed at young readers which it is then it's great, a ripping yarn of adventure, although I did think he was going to have to do a bit more sword fighting on his quest, and instead he seemed to get by, with lucky escapes... All in all, a good children's book, that's also quite engaging for adults.

A Masterly Performance 👏👏👏
A masterly story plot.
A marvellous character.
A masterful storyteller.
The Letter for the King is the best story I have ever listened to so far.
I love the plot - a mysterious letter that was handed to the main character, Tiuri, and thus it set off a heroic quest to overcome all the insurmountable odds to deliver the message to the King. The plot keeps the readers on tenterhooks.
I love the characters, especially Tiuri and Piak, who were innocent and valiant on an arduous journey to the Kingdom of Unauwen. Also, The "Black Knight with the White Shield" is also a vital and intriguing character in the story.
I love the settings - the Blue River, the Rainbow River, and the gorgeous rolling hills depicted in the story. I listened and was overwhelmed with awe.
I love the storyteller - Matt Addis - He told the story with disparate vocal variety and he was able to engage the readers with his sonorous and melodious voice. The most fascinating part was when Tiuri was knighted by King Dagonaut. The storyteller spoke like a real king and I felt like I had been transported to the scene and witnessed the knighting of Tiuri in person.
Remarkable! 👏👏👏
The only thing I am dying to know is - where is the Black Knight with the Red Shield?

My favorite childhood book come to life
Loved every second of it.
Really brought me back in touch with my favorite childhood pastime. READING.
As a single mother of two small children under the age of 5, I really don't have the time to read anymore. And I do miss it so.
This was my first audiobook ever and it was a real joy listening to one of my all time favorite stories as a child.
I only have one little note, to the narrator, and that is that I found his tempo a little to fast. But luckily this was easily adjusted in the speed setting. Other than that I really enjoyed the narrator's different voices and the feeling that the narrator knew my beloved Tiuri personally and was telling me his story.

Fabulous adventure story
I can understand why this story is a classic. There are many twists and turns for the hero of the story. I have to be honest though, it took me about 45 minutes to get used to the narrator‘s voice at the start of the book. However, as the story continues, there’s lots of dialogue, and Matt narrates this brilliantly and is a most engaging narrator. All in all a great story to listen to. Can’t wait to listen to the next story!

A return to a childhood sense of adventure :)
Absolutely loved listening to this story!
The tale is enthralling and heartwarming, as we follow Tuiri on the quest he receives from a mysterious stranger. Matt Addis as the narrator would more properly be called a storyteller, whose diligence with accents and characterisation gives unique life to everyone we meet, and adds a invaluable depth to the tapestry of the land we move through.
Would highly recommend, especially if you ever played at being a knight when you were younger!

Fantastic
Such a gripping story with pacing and engaging characters that kept me wanting to keep listening. The experience was made all the better by the narrator Matt Addis who performed so many different characters convincingly; giving each region the protagonist travels to a slightly different accent and dialect, with a breadth of character that helped you recognise specific characters voices. Absolutely loved this story and can’t wait to listen to the next instalment!

Review from an adult
I got this because I’d watched the first episode on Netflix with my kids, but this was much better (in my opinion) than the show. It reminded me of an old episodic adventure novel more than something like Hunger Games or even Harry Potter where danger is constantly looming. I appreciated that there were trustworthy characters along the sojourn.
As an adult, I liked this and I think kids would too. Would be a good car trip listen.

A wonderful adventure!!!
I first read this book when I was about 12-13 (in the German translation) and I loved it from the first page!
Now after so many years there is finally an English translation (very well done as far as I can tell) and an audiobook. The narrator is very fitting for the story! It feels like your grandfather (or maybe Sir Ristridin himself) is telling you the story while you sit in front of a great fire in a mighty fortress.
The story of Tiuri and Piak is full of friendship, adventure and chivalry.
Of course now, as a sad adult, I can see that there are some things that don't quite make sense, seem too easy or just don't fit together, but it doesn't take away from the magic of the story.
And anyway, hopefully the listeners are young and can thus enjoy the story just like i have done for many years! I will definitely buy the second book as well, I can't wait! Sorry that there are only two books in this series!
If u like Tamora Pierce books you will definitely also enjoy this book!

According to my seven year old child...
Would you listen to The Letter for the King again? Why?
Yes, definitely because I like knights and horses and the story is really gripping. When it's time to put the story down, you want to pick it up again straight away!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Letter for the King?
The most memorable moment (spoiler alert!!!) ...was when Tiuri gave the letter to King Unawen.
What does Matt Addis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
If I had read it myself, many of the words would have been hard to read, so listening ws much more exciting.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Another spoiler alert - the moment I found most sad was when Piak left Tiuri.
Any additional comments?
This is a great book. Listen to it! and Read it too.
