Story
At the height of the Cold War, JFK risked committing the greatest crime in human history: starting a nuclear war. Horrified by the specter of nuclear annihilation, Kennedy gradually turned away from his long-held Cold Warrior beliefs and toward a policy of lasting peace. But to the military and intelligence agencies in the United States, who were committed to winning the Cold War at any cost, Kennedy's change of heart was a direct threat to their power and influence.

Story
A classic of JFK assassination literature, Sylvia Meagher's work is a relentless indictment of the Warren Commission and its work. Originally published in 1967, Meagher's masterful dissection of the Warren Report, based on the Warren Commission's own evidence, has stood the test of time. In some cases, declassifications of government records have corroborated the author's suspicions and analyses, such as her amazing assertion that Oswald had never actually been charged with Kennedy's murder, despite sworn testimony to the contrary.

'It might not be in your lifetime,' said the Chief Justice of the United States when asked whether the files on the assassination of President Kennedy would be made public. If the President was killed by a lone gunman, as the first official enquiry claimed, why can we still not see all relevant records? Fifty years on and the murder of the century remains unsolved. Drawing on thirty years of investigation, Anthony Summers examines the case in compelling, forensic detail.

Almost 50 years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, his murder continues to haunt the American psyche and stands as a turning point in our nation’s history. The Warren Commission rushed out its report in 1964, but questions continue to linger: Was there a conspiracy? Was there a coup at the highest levels of government? A Lie Too Big to Fail asserts the idea that a government can never investigate itself in a crime of this magnitude. Was the convicted Sirhan Sirhan a willing participant? Or was he a mind-controlled assassin? It has fallen to independent researchers like Pease to lay out the evidence in a clear and concise manner, allowing listeners to form their theories about this event. Pease places the history of this event in the context of the era and provides shocking overlaps between other high-profile murders and attempted murders of the time.

There are few moments in American history in which the course of events tipped so suddenly and so dramatically as at the Battle of Midway. At dawn of June 4, 1942, a rampaging Japanese navy ruled the Pacific. By sunset, their vaunted carrier force (the Kido Butai) had been sunk and their grip on the Pacific had been loosened forever. In this absolutely riveting account of a key moment in the history of World War II, one of America's leading naval historians, Craig L. Symonds, paints an unforgettable portrait of ingenuity, courage, and sacrifice.

Story
Lyndon Baines Johnson was a man of great ambition and enormous greed, both of which, in 1963, would threaten to destroy him. In the end, President Johnson would use power from his personal connections in Texas and from the underworld and from the government to escape an untimely end in politics and to seize even greater power. President Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States, was the driving force behind a conspiracy to murder President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. In The Man Who Killed Kennedy, you will find out how and why he did it. Political consultant, strategist, and Libertarian Roger Stone has gathered documents and used his firsthand knowledge to construct the ultimate tome to prove that LBJ was not only involved in JFK's assassination, but was in fact the mastermind. With 2013 being the fiftieth anniversary of JFK's assassination, this is the perfect time for The Man Who Killed Kennedy to be available to readers. The research and information in this book is unprecedented, and as Roger Stone lived through it, he's the perfect person to bring it to everyone's attention.

Editor reviews
Noah Michael Levine delivers a powerful performance of Gaeton Fonzi’s magnificent nonfiction work The Last Investigation: A Former Federal Investigator Reveals the Conspiracy to Kill JFK. His melodious voice is a perfect complement to the powerful story. Fonzi, a journalist who was an investigator for the House Select Committee on Assassinations, questions the identity of the conspirators who brought forth the president’s death. As well, he reexamines the motives for the crime. What the American government has led us to believe is not the entire truth. Fonzi exposes the lies. This audiobook is considered to be the foremost text on the Kennedy assassination.
Summary
Gaeton Fonzi's masterful retelling of his work investigating the Kennedy assassination for two Congressional committees is required listening for students of the assassination and the subsequent failure of the government to solve the crime. The Last Investigation is a compelling postmortem on the House Select Committee on Assassinations as well as a riveting account of Fonzi's pursuit of leads indicating involvement by officers of the Central Intelligence Agency.

The hunt for the mysterious Maurice Bishop
Federal investigator Gaeton Fonzi gives us the inside story of the HSCA reinvestigation of the JFK assassination. This started out with such great hope and optimism that finally a true and proper enquiry would be carried out. Sadly it was not to be as almost before it began the political squabbles in Congress commenced. Chairman and prosecutors resigned, budgets were cut and the investigation itself was quietly nobbled. Mr Fonzi was responsible for the Mimi end of the enquiry which brought him into contact with many of the key players in the Cuban expat community. We follow the thrilling hunt and exposure of the CIA's mysterious Maurice Bishop subsequently identified as David Atlee Phillips. This is a really great book but some previous knowledge of the JFK assassination is required to get the maximum enjoyment out of the at times fast paced story. Superbly narrated once again by Mr Noah Michael Levine.

Enthralling!
This is book that the author knew the subject well. He was an investigator on the second Senate investigation into the demise of J F K. It shows the unlawful withholding, purgery and stonewalling by Government departments, especially the Security section. I recommend a good companion to this theory. 'JFK and the unspeakable', by James Douglas. Although fhey are by different authors, the evidence becomes more compelling.

Utmost Respect for Mr.Gaeton Fonzi
The author, comes across to me, as one of the most credible investigators of the murder of JFK. I would have absolutely loved to have met this man and listened to his wisdom. I remember the day I heard that our President was shot, and I saw Lee Harvey Oswald murdered that weekend, live on TV. Everyone I knew was weeping with intense sadness. It was a horrible day for our country. How could this happen in the great ole USA? And so, our generation had to live with this tragedy and then live with the lies our leaders told us about this event. Gaeton Fonzi has helped me tie up; many of the loose ends I had in my mind about that time in our history in a very credible and detailed book. For me the book is very interesting and it was hard to put it down. Gaeton was one of the true patriots of our day. Great book. Thank-you Audible for allowing the truth to be revealed through this book.

Somehow disappointed about the Title. It is the author's last investigation, but not the JFK case.I am looking for Who killed JFK, Why and How?The author told me it is not LAH, maybe CIA, maybe LBJ, maybe...After reading this book, I did not know who, why & how, so I have to move on to look for more information from other books. But this book helped me to assure that it is a conspiracy.
