I loved the twists and turns of the story - most of which I could never have predicted.
Without wanting to, I always had great sympathy for the central character - his misdemeanours were obviously key to the plot and had such devastating effects and yet, I felt so sorry for him.
The descriptions of the characters and scenery was powerful and deep so it made them very believable, and I thought that the story may have been autobiographical until I checked!

Beautifully crafted, Afghanistan is brought to life, evoking it's rich culture, in all it's beauty and terrible cruelty.
Every character, major or minor, is portrayed skilfully, breathing life into every one of them.
Khaled Hosseini is an extremely talented story teller. The Kite Runner will stand the test of time, as a brilliant novel.
