Summary
Scotland, 1722: on a windswept island, an enigmatic poetess foretells tragedy and the birth of an extraordinary child.
That child is the free-spirited Flora, daughter of Marion. When her father dies, Flora and her mother are plunged into poverty. Until her mother's former lover takes them to Skye, where he swiftly marries Marion. When the Clanranalds are invited to a grand wedding in Skye, Flora finds herself irresistibly drawn to Allan of Kingsburgh, one of the mighty Skye MacDonalds.
Before affairs of the heart can be resolved, the exiled Prince Charles Stuart lands on the Outer Isles, and his arrival ignites the Jacobite Rising of 1745. Scotland is plunged into bloody civil war, and Flora's fate is changed forever.

Flora and the Jacobites.....
An interesting story and at a good pace. I feel the narration could have been better. Smoother, less jerky/disjointed sentences and better intonation.
Will listen to others by this author.

Historical content
I really enjoyed this story.all the way through. The narrator did amazingly well with so many characters. A really good listen I didnt want it to end!

Enjoyable
Thoroughly enjoyed this book well worth a listen 50 chapters which is quite long but I like this era

Spend your credit on something else
Not interesting enough to justify length. Starts before Flora was even born. Bonnie Prince Charlie section comparatively tiny.
I only finished because I have an interest in the period. It did seem like a fair bit of research went into it.
Narrator does terrible 'voices'.
