About this listen
I hate Ripley Brewer.
So, why am I cuddling on his lap, peering into his ocean-blue eyes while cameras record our every move?
My best friend needs my help to save her career, and I would do anything for her. Besides, filming a reality show sounds fun … until Ripley shows up to play the role of my fake boyfriend.
As always, we nearly come to blows within minutes of seeing each other. The playboy billionaire accuses me of a setup, but I insist I’d rather live in a world without carbs than spend a minute with him.
At some point during the melee, we sign contracts. I can’t stand the look of his six feet two inches of chiseled abs and broad shoulders. And I loathe his arrogance. But now that he’s my pretend beau, I’m stuck acting like I’m falling in love with my biggest enemy.
It turns out that Ripley’s a good actor, too. Every soft touch on the small of my back makes my heart thump faster. His sultry smirk feels like it’s only for me. I should detest every word that passes his kissable lips.
Is this all a ruse, or does Ripley want to end this episode of The Invitation going from enemies to lovers? Because now? I’m not convinced I can despise him anymore.

Now I thought book 2 was my favourite so far,but Ripley and Georgia just stole my heart.
This is such a fantastic enemies to Lovers/Fake dating romance and I enjoyed every single clash between them, every exchange and every moment they shared together.
Ripley and Georgia have history he humiliated her 10 years ago and she has hated him ever since,Ripley also has his reasons for hating on Georgia but they are not what we all think.
Then participating in a reality dating show changes everything for them both...They only agree to do the show because it is to save their friends career's and they must Fake Date and pretend to be falling in love.
How would they pull it off if everytime they were in eachothers space they would argue and bicker..?
I Loved seeing Ripley and Georgia being forced to spend time together, and get to know one another properly...Its a storm that brings everything to the surface, trapped together brings out all kinds of revelations...They slowly realise that they had a skewed perception of eachother and it was so wrong.
One incident in the past taints their opinion of eachother starting the hatred between them.
The slow burn between them is worth the intense explosion of chemistry they have, and the steam and the anticipation is worth it.
Ripley is so adorable when he confesses a secret to Georgia it is so romantic and sweet she definately had him all wrong...But there is a threat to the relationship if they do pursue something because someone who is important to Georgia HATES the Brewer family and this could be a huge problem.
One of my favourite tropes is enemies to Lovers and Adriana Locke has written a perfect one,It is funny, emotional and steamy.
The narration of Jason Clarke anf Lexi Maynard is Fabulous !!.. together they really make this story shine.
I love Jason Clarke and have heard many of the books he has narrated and he never fails to captivate me with his voice.
It is the first time I have heard Lexi Maynard and I really loved her storytelling abilities her voice is expressive, clear and smooth..I enjoyed listening to them both very much they were great as Ripley and Georgia.
The Invitation by Adriana Locke is an enthralling story and audiobook and I am hoping there is a book 4 in the future.
Loved it.

Ripley and Georgia have some of the best banter stemming from a true dislike for each other at the beginning of the story. Due to strange circumstances, and unbeknownst to either of them, they end up as stars of a reality show pilot in which they have to “date” each other. Great premise for a fake-dating trope. The story was fun and it was a nice easy read/listen. I’ll definitely be checking out future books in this series.
The audio aspect was great. Both narrators nailed the emotions perfectly and it was a pleasant experience to listen. The only thing that would have made it better was if it had been done in duet style versus dual. Jason Clarke has such a unique voice that I didn’t feel the same connection to his character when it was performed by Lexi Maynard. Minor details and overall it was well done!

Ripley and Georgia begin the book at odd with each other, and we quickly find out that it's due to some misunderstandings on both their parts many years ago. The way the characters treated each other at the beginning made them seem immature, and I like that there was a lot of self-discovery and making conscious efforts to change for both Ripley and Georgia. I thought that the way the ending resolved was meaningful and unique, and I appreciate when characters resolve issues with communication.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Jason Clarke and new-to-me Lexi Maynard. Lexi Maynard did well, and I thought it was an exceptional performance by Jason Clarke. He consistently does an excellent job making various character voices sound unique, and the delivery of the dialogue really conveyed the feelings behind the words (a bitter laugh, talking faster with excitement, etc.). The narration was really well done.
I received a copy of this audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
Stand alone in series, forced proximity

Adriana Locke has become a favourite over the last 12 months. I discovered her a few years ago, however, it was only this year that I fell down the rabbit hole that is her backlist and I’m pleased to report that in each book I have had the chance to read, I have not been disappointed in and have fallen in love with her writing and her amazing characters and story!

The Invitation is book # 3 in the Brewer Family series and it’s Ripley & Georgia’s story. It’s an entertaining, forbidden, fake dating, enemies-to-lovers romance that sucks you in from the page one.
These two have known each other for over 10 years and things weren’t hearts and flowers. They both struggled with insecurities and they’ve both gone through a lot and have been left with wounded hearts. They have left so much hurt and angry from their teenage years that they have brushed under the rug and they’ve never dealt with it.
It gets worse though…. Ripley’s father and Georgia’s mother had an affair which makes the tension and conflict between these two even more intense. It’s when Georgia’s best friend's casting for a reality show fell through and she offered to fake falling in love with some actor on camera, however, she was blindsided that the man she was going to “fall in love with” was Ripley. Nevertheless, she agreed to do it and she kept her word. The thing is, as they spent more time with each other she began to question if he was just a really good actor or could they actually be falling for each other.
I loved Georgia! She was so sweet, but she had a sassy side and it came out when she was around Ripley. She was very strong-willed and stubborn when she got into arguments with Ripley. She had no problem standing up for herself to him.
Even though Ripley tried to put this “bad boy” act on, you saw a softer side to him when it came to Georgia. He became protective of her and you could tell that it was so much more for him.
The more time they spent together and the more back and forth between these two the one-liners and sarcastic banter only intensified the chemistry they already had.
As usual, Adriana delivered another outstanding story. I devoured this book in a matter of hours and I loved every word!
