One of Sarah’s daughters died. But can she be sure which one?

A year after one of their identical twin daughters, Lydia, dies in an accident, Angus and Sarah Moorcraft move to the tiny Scottish island Angus inherited from his grandmother, hoping to put together the pieces of their shattered lives.

But when their surviving daughter, Kirstie, claims they have mistaken her identity – that she, in fact, is Lydia – their world comes crashing down once again.

As winter encroaches, Angus is forced to travel away from the island for work, Sarah is feeling isolated, and Kirstie (or is it Lydia?) is growing more disturbed. When a violent storm leaves Sarah and her daughter stranded, Sarah finds herself tortured by the past – what really happened on that fateful day one of her daughters died?

Nicely woven story full of clever twists and turns. There were no superfluous strings or characters to fill the pages. Every element contributed to create a wonderful chill.
Perhaps one small thing was that a couple of aspects of the story were a bit of a cliche. A lonely brutal Hebridean island for one.
The narration of the child's voice was excellent too.

Great story telling

loved every creepy minute. the narrator's were excellent, really drawing you in. i felt like I was living on that wee Scottish island. I could feel the cold winds and the storm. The grief felt by each family member was so different and each had their own repercussions entwined with each other. I didnt want it to end. A sad, haunting read, perdectly executed. will buy more from this author and from the narrator's too.

spooky, atmospheric and addictive

I'm glad I didn't read the reviews of this book before I listened because it would have put me off listening but overall, a good story with a twist at the end.
The narration was a little off-putting at times due to bad scottish accents and shrill child impersonations but once you get into the story it's quite easy to let it wash over you.

Give it a go - a good story
