One of Sarah’s daughters died. But can she be sure which one?

A year after one of their identical twin daughters, Lydia, dies in an accident, Angus and Sarah Moorcraft move to the tiny Scottish island Angus inherited from his grandmother, hoping to put together the pieces of their shattered lives.

But when their surviving daughter, Kirstie, claims they have mistaken her identity – that she, in fact, is Lydia – their world comes crashing down once again.

As winter encroaches, Angus is forced to travel away from the island for work, Sarah is feeling isolated, and Kirstie (or is it Lydia?) is growing more disturbed. When a violent storm leaves Sarah and her daughter stranded, Sarah finds herself tortured by the past – what really happened on that fateful day one of her daughters died?

I was hoping the story would grow in intrigue and suspense but I found it quite boring throughout, slow for 2/3s and then some twists thrown in at the end.

The narrator - penny rawlins - is good on the whole, but I wish she wouldn't shriek when she is doing the child's voice. This is an audiobook so will be listened to on earphones or in the car maybe, and her voice was so shrill in parts, it became ear splitting!

Just ok

Very good listen, but the use of three adult narrators was a bit odd and jarring.

Good book, strangely produced.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this story but I did really enjoyed it. It was quite spooky in parts and wasn't sure how it was going to end and what the truth of the situation was.

I mostly liked the performance but couple of things I didn't like.

1. Really didn't like the performance when the 2 female readers were speaking as the child/children. I found it grating and annoying.
2. Why the last chapter was read by a male performer but all the other chapters told from Gus' perspective where read by a female. Much preferred the male voice for Gus.

Interesting story.

Where does The Ice Twins rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I had listened to so many different books, both fiction, crime and non fiction, that I can't answer this question

Who was your favorite character and why?

The children's mother

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favourite?

I did like the children's voices

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When one of the twins died

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this story but it is so creepy! The only thing which I thought let it down was the male Scottish accent but perhaps all areas of Scotland sound different. I loved the description of all the islands.
