One of Sarah’s daughters died. But can she be sure which one?

A year after one of their identical twin daughters, Lydia, dies in an accident, Angus and Sarah Moorcraft move to the tiny Scottish island Angus inherited from his grandmother, hoping to put together the pieces of their shattered lives.

But when their surviving daughter, Kirstie, claims they have mistaken her identity – that she, in fact, is Lydia – their world comes crashing down once again.

As winter encroaches, Angus is forced to travel away from the island for work, Sarah is feeling isolated, and Kirstie (or is it Lydia?) is growing more disturbed. When a violent storm leaves Sarah and her daughter stranded, Sarah finds herself tortured by the past – what really happened on that fateful day one of her daughters died?

The storyline makes very compelling listening. However, some of the reading voices were annoyingly "wrong"

Compelling

Would you listen to The Ice Twins again? Why?

No, I wouldn't listen again, simply because of the character Sarah. She really annoyed me!

What did you like best about this story?

I like the intrigue. There were several twists that were not obviously coming and I like that - it kept me on my toes.

What three words best describe the narrators’s performance?

There were 3 narrators. Penny Rawlins, Sandra Duncan & Angus King.
WHY Angus King was bought in to narrate the final chapter is beyond me... It had been done by Sandra Duncan perfectly well for the previous 11 and a half hours! I didn't get that.
Penny Rawlins child voice was a little "squealy" and could be a little annoying at times, but overall the narration was fine.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The child/children.... no spoilers, but she/they are just down right creepy!!

Any additional comments?

Not a bad book overall. I would happily read other books by this author.
Sarah, the mother, started to annoy me about 9 hours in. Her "shall I, shant I" thing was totally frustrating and added some padding to the book that didn't really need to be there. i did find that there was extra padding that lead nowhere, like the child psychologist line. She could have easily just googled it, as she does later - otherwise, it was good.

Not a bad story...

Three times it made me go OMG!! I'd lay there listening in the dark and I'd open my eyes cos I couldn't believe what I was hearing

Brilliant

Would you listen to The Ice Twins again? Why?

Yes, after a while because it's a fascinating involving thriller!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Ice Twins?

To find out the devastating truth in full, had partly guessed some but so sad and heart-rending!!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Hard to pick .

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, all in measure plus anger and sense of judgement towards both parents and specially Sarah in her actions.

Any additional comments?

Good book, compelling listen/reading!!

Creepy icy and compelling thriller!!!

This book is well narrated with 'listenable' readers' voices. The atmosphere of the Scottish isle builds and I felt I could see the mountains, sea and heavy weather. This audio book is hard to put down and I am sorry that I've finished it. I hope that this author goes on to write other books.

Brilliant and Spooky.
