About this listen

The 27th century is a dark and crude epoch. In this cyberpunk saga, an admiral of United Earth Command is assigned a top-secret mission to capture and send a deadly alien into a black hole known as Vacuity. The mission, however, turns upside down when the entity escapes.

The Hybrid Effect is a high-octane blend of space opera, political intrigue, and looming cosmic danger. Admiral Bessel and his crew of the Goliath find themselves entangled in conspiracies, rogue missions, and the terrifying threat of a hybrid enemy who can’t easily be killed. The story mixes tense military drama with vivid world-building, alien colonies, sprawling starports, AI with personality, and battles on a galactic scale
What stands out is the character depth beneath the action. Bessel’s arrogance, grief, and ambition drive much of the tension, while his crew wrestle with loyalty, fear, and the shadow of past battles. It feels part Battlestar Galactica, part Mass Effect, fast-paced, cinematic, and packed with moral dilemmas.
If you enjoy sci-fi that blends spectacle with character drama and political edge, The Hybrid Effect is an exciting, thought-provoking listen.
