Summary
It was meant to be a place of safety. Their home. Her sanctuary.
When Prue Bridgewater first glimpses the abandoned old house, it's love at first sight. Her husband, Ray, is not so sure. The property has been neglected for decades, and Ray can't help wondering why. But with Prue on the brink of a nervous breakdown, he'll do whatever it takes to keep her sane, even if it means he has to live there.
Once ensconced in their new home, Prue begins fixing up the place while Ray is away at work. But after a series of disturbing discoveries, she fears she's losing her mind. She hears things and sees people who couldn't possibly be there, and she can't shake the feeling she's being watched.
As Prue's hold on reality begins to disintegrate, along with her marriage, she struggles to tell truth from delusion. But things go from bad to worse, and soon not just her sanity, but her survival hinges upon the long-buried secrets of the house.

Utter rubbish!
Would you try another book written by P.M. Prior or narrated by Elizabeth Klett?
No, the book is written with the skills of a first grader. No effort to build up a connection with the building, history with the main character and awful use of basic language.
What was most disappointing about P.M. Prior’s story?
How many times in a book do you need the line "she did" ? Honestly every other sentence for some chapters began She. No use of descriptive English to create the scene just she did this and she did that and she felt this and she pushed this and she didn't do that. Also What was with the use of the word FxxK, was it really necessary, it didn't meet the type of character your short build up had created.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
One word MONOTONE. They went from a passionate love seen where she was trying to shut things out of her head to swiping an axe at someone with the some boring voice! Ohh I found teeth in the drain, oh someone has gone into my house I think it is my stalker, all in the same voice, no feeling, no up beat heart stopping hold your breath whats going to happen, just blah blah blah.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The House?
More build up make the main seem less of a nut job and create more suspense.

I only kept on with this as Audible wont allow me to return it. Sadly if this is the standard of ready and quality of book I doubt I will remain on this site for much longer.
