On a freezing Christmas Eve in 1879, a forensic psychic reader is summoned from her Baker Street lodgings to the scene of a questionable death. Alexandrina Victoria Pendlebury (named after her godmother, the current queen of England) is adamant that the death in question is a magically compromised murder and not a suicide, as the police had assumed. the caricatures in this book are fantastic you just want ti keep listening to see what happens next.
the story is so good you can almost believe it.

I did enjoy a comfortable make - believe story.
Narrator has it just right.

Genteel Murder Mystery

I’m not really sure how I feel about this book. I quite enjoyed it and the characters were intriguing but there were whole sections where I just thought it was daft. I suppose I can accept psychic abilities but not the nonsense about a tiger or a man’s inability to clearly address a letter. Other readers might not mind.
