Summary

A small therapy group arrives at Grief House hoping that a combination of isolation and hard work will help them begin the healing process each of them so desperately needs.

But their presence has awakened something in the old dwelling. Something linked to the ancient stone megaliths at the rear of the property and a terrible crime, committed centuries before.

Before the weekend is over, the group will learn the secrets of the Grieving Stones, and come to understand the true meaning of transformation.

What does Chris Barnes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I bought this book because Chris Barnes had been highly recommended as a narrator and I wasn't disappointed. His wonderful Scottish accent is perfect for this type of story. He strikes exactly the right tone and I found myself holding my breath through the whole book. Wonderful I shall be listening to more by this narrator.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Don't listen after dark.

Dark, sombre, moving

Where does The Grieving Stones rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The Grieving Stones is easily the best audiobook I have listened to so far from Audible.

What did you like best about this story?

The narrator's measured, sombre delivery perfectly matched the tone of the words and the flow of the narrative. He didn't miss a beat in terms of creating an atmosphere of accumulative terror.

Have you listened to any of Chris Barnes’s other performances? How does this one compare?

This is my first listening to Chris Barnes and will not be the last.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The denouement of the story was where it came into its own and the narrator evoked the necessary emotions perfectly.
